01.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day. The first Sorry Day was held in 1998 on the anniversary of the Bringing Them Home report being tabled in parliament. Sorry Day isn’t just a day of remembrance, it‘s a call to action to implement the 54 recommendations from the report... saying sorry wasn’t the only recommendation. This day is to acknowledge the Stolen Generations whose lives were blighted by past government policies of forced child removal and Indigenous assimilation.... This day is also to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.
