12.01.2022 Oh 2020 you are just the gift that keeps on giving.... I'm starting to feel like emerging from lockdown might be just as tricky as first going into it. I'm wondering how you are doing? I'm not sleeping well (hello 3am wake up time) and even though our days of double zeros are incredible, I feel like there is such a fragility to our current freedoms. So much uncertainty remains; will I be sitting down to Christmas lunch with my family, what does the landscape for our bus...iness look like in 2021 and beyond? And let's not even talk about the US situation.... I'm trying to be gentle with myself and others and when I am feeling overwhelmed, which is often, I mentally transport myself to Grayling's and imagine the sense of calm and stillness that I experience when I am there. 12.01.2022 It turns out that HOW you spend your time away is more important than the length of the break. Add to this mastering a new skill while on a break and the result is a significant reduction in stress levels and improvement in life satisfaction.* I recently signed up to fulfil a long held ambition to study interior decoration. It wasn't until the first lecture that I quickly realised there would be A LOT of hand drawing involved. Being the master of the MOQ cat (if you don'...t know it, google it!) let's just say I was shitting myself. Fast forward 7 short weeks and I have submitted (and passed) two drawing assignments. "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" was a suggested text for the artistically challenged in the group so I snapped it up from Amazon quicker than you can say "pass the eraser". So far I have learnt to draw Picasso's "Igor Stravinsky" by using the author's upside down method of switching on the right side of our brain. Mind blown! This book will be making it way to Grayling's (as soon as I am finished it ) to sit amongst all our inspiring offerings that encourage creativity & exploration during your stay, which as we now know results in your returning home less stressed and with greater life satisfaction!
