08.01.2022 On Thursday 23rd May AgForce Queensland, Fitzroy Basin Association (FBA), and Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) who together form the Grazing and Grains BMP (Best Management Practice) Alliance undertook a robust, broad-ranging discussion about BMP in what was the groups’ first meeting since AgForce made the decision to delete the BMP data. AgForce considered this action was required in order to protect its members. The meeting was attended by key representati...ves from each body AgForce General President Georgie Somerset, FBA CEO Paul Birch, DAF Deputy Director General Bernadette Ditchfield and Executive Director Elton Miller, along with BMP Alliance Chair and AgForce past President Grant Maudsley. Mr Maudsley said that while Alliance members had expressed disappointment over recent events, the partners appeared genuine in their efforts to find a way forward. The Alliance said there are many issues that need to be worked through. Mr Maudsley said. The Alliance also discussed AgForce’s ‘Natural Capital’ program and were willing to continue these discussions in future meetings whilst acknowledging that all Alliance members had to consider their options. Everyone agreed that industry and government had a role in supporting producers achieve productivity and beneficial environmental outcomes. The BMP Alliance will meet again in two weeks to continue discussions.
