22.01.2022 Congrats to MY Beluga, an Ocean Alliance charter yacht - nominated for Yacht of the Year in the Ocean Awards for their involvement in the amazing #GreatReefCens...us project! In November 2020, Beluga was the first-ever superyacht to take part in the Great Reef Census. The Great Reef Census is a world-first for superyacht owners and charterers to participate in conservation efforts on the Australian Great Barrier Reef. It is an opportunity to encourage a culture of ‘yachting for purpose’ and offer charterers on board Beluga the ability to incorporate a meaningful contribution to the ecosystem they are experiencing. #seeAustralia #greatbarrierreef #perfecthomeport https://www.boatinternational.com/ocean-awards-yacht-of-the Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef Ocean Alliance Ltd Zulu, Levante & Minke Luxury Fishing Charters - Port Douglas QLD Amanda Haines

19.01.2022 Ocean conservationist, explorer, and CEO of Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef Andy Ridley is working to empower individuals and communities alike in the quest ...to safeguard biodiversity on our iconic Great Barrier Reef. Based in Cairns, Ridley and his team have successfully mobilised a reef-wide survey flotilla of tourism boats, private vessels, super-yachts and research ships from the Swains in the south to the remote Far North. And now, they are asking citizen scientists from around the world to ‘log-on’ and help analyse the data. One of the big challenges is how do you achieve scale, says Ridley, Because the size of the issues that we’re dealing with are getting bigger and bigger every year you can’t use that traditional model anymore Will you play a part in helping to protect the Great Barrier Reef? 15.01.2022 Great News for Superyachts in NZ!

10.01.2022 One of three thousand - Ribbon #2 Reef (15-075a) 15 33.333'S 145 47.777'E There are about 3,000 individual reefs in the #GreatBarrierReef complex, and this is... the second in the Ribbon Reef sequence, the amazing line of reefs that run 730km along the edge of the continental shelf from offshore Cooktown, almost to Papua New Guinea. Ribbon #2 has a fantastic bifurcated reef front, enclosing a windward lagoon, which is quite unusual for a Ribbon Reef. This reef is 6km long with an area of 11km2, and about 60% of that is hard substratum. If this reef lost all its living coral, and we wanted to 'restore' the reef using farmed coral fragments at a density of one coral per square meter, we would need about 6 million of them. Comprehending the vast spatial scale of the Great Barrier Reef is important to understand both its fundamental ecology, and which management actions are appropriate at scales of meters, whole reefs, and thousands of kilometers. #TooPreciousToLose Coralseafoundation.net #coralseafoundation #coralreef #coralsea #ribbonreef #worldheritage #reefalive #hopespots #climateaction #cleanenergynow #marinepark #love30x30 #waterquality
