14.01.2022 Registrations for this year's Wheelbarrow Races are NOW OPEN! Sections this year include the Chillagoe Chase for solo, duo and trio competitors, the Almaden Amble for the social teams, and the Pioneer Push for those willing to take on the ultimate challenge! Head to our website to register! Teams participating in the Pioneer Push and Almaden Amble will leave from Dimbulah from 6.00am in intervals. Solo, Duo and Trio competitors will start from Almaden around midday. ... Those competing in the Pioneer Push will need to leave Almaden by 1.30pm. Presentations will be held at the Chillagoe Town Hall between 5pm -6pm. Sponsor opportunities are availeble. Send us a message if your business is keen to sponsor this year's unique event. 14.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFO For those teams brave enough to tackle the Pioneer Push challenge, you must make it to Almaden by 1pm and leave no later than 1.30pm to be eligible to complete the race. 05.01.2022 It is with great sadness, we write to let you know that we have lost one of our team members, Great Wheelbarrow Race committee stalwart Sandy Butler. Sandy has been part of the race since the beginning and in 2019 was named the Face of the Race. Very fitting for a gentleman who loved everything the race embodied. This year was also extra special for Sandy as his family took part, something we know made him most proud. Sandy looked forward to the race each and every year and... was a true champion of the towns along the Wheelbarrow Way. He will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, enthusiasm and dedication to see the race get bigger and better each year. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Sandy, he’d always just smile, give us a nod and say no worries mate. We will miss and always remember his great smile and warm and welcoming personality. He was a friend to all. Sandy loved his community and he will be deeply missed by his community. While the race won’t quite be the same anymore without Sandy, we will continue on and make him proud.
