21.01.2022 Can the Great White Shark Discovery Centre help us develop long range, reliable shark deterrents to help make the beaches a safer place for everyone? We hope we can; and we plan to do so! :) We believe human beings are intelligent and innovative. Given sufficient focus, reduced variables, increased access and the brightest experts, we don’t see why we couldn't develop reliable long range, non-lethal deterrents. This could mean Great White Sharks and Humans could co-exist in ...relative harmony. We could have less fear when entering the water! Imagine having buoys with specially developed devices attached to them floating off major beaches? These advanced devices could emit specific sounds that repel Great White Sharks from kilometres away! We will try our best to find a solution that is species specific and won't negatively affect other creatures like Whales, Dolphins and other regional fishes. What would this mean to your families day at the beach? Please share this possibility with your friends and family. Thank you. :)

20.01.2022 G’day, please meet a good friend of ours, Phil Paternoster another shark wrangling expert and a friend of all sharks. Phil comes from the very beautiful, but remote region of North Western Australia. A region of the world where they are still lucky enough to have many sharks left in the water. Phil is great mates with many people from the Port Lincoln region and has lived in Coral Bay for more than 13 years. Over his life he has calmly and safely interacted with many BIG sh...Continue reading

12.01.2022 Please help share this information nicely to as many friends and family as you can. This post highlights a major problem regarding our oceans. Please remember, Great White Sharks have lived on Earth for around 12 million years, whereas humans for only about 80 thousand years. The world’s population is currently around 7 billion people. By 2050 it is believed we will reach 10 billion. Please study this map, consider your region, your regions population, and your regions r...equirements for seafood (now and into the future). Please try to forget country boarders and try to look at the problem from an international perspective. Then please ask yourself; does my region experience unsustainable fisheries or illegal poaching? Unsustainable fisheries are fishing activities that 1. Don’t adhere to science based quotas (which enable fish stocks to replenish), 2. Don’t monitor commercial fishing activities and 3. Where fisherman make little attempt to minimise by-catch from their target species. Illegal poaching is simply the hunting, killing and selling of parts of rare species to dodgy people who desire those rare parts. Please remember to choose Respect, Understanding, Teamwork and Forgiveness. Also, avoid Greed and Ego. :) Unsustainable fisheries and illegal poaching are the biggest risks to the Great White Shark. Awareness to as many people as possible is an effective solution. Awareness and good sustainable values will drive people to act effectively. We hope the Great White Shark Discovery Centre can help raise awareness and enable the global population of Great White Sharks to bounce back! ;) Thank you and have a great day! :)
