24.01.2022 The Larrimah Pink Panther Hotel lies almost 500km south of Darwin, NT. It took it's quirky name from the Pink Panther stuffed toy placed out the front of a small "lake" which formed when a leak on the driveway was not repaired by council. The pub features pink walls, a small wildlife enclosure with crocodiles out the back and a claim to the "highest bar" in the Northern Territory.... Established in 1839, it was the second pub to receive a State liquor license. These days it serves the community and those keen for a picturesque drive from the Adelaide suburbs well and is known for its delicious food, original building relics and laid back country charm.... 20.01.2022 According to Wallendbeen local John, he saved the town. What’s a town without a pub?, he quipped. He must have poured at least 1/2 a million dollars into the place. And it’s bloody brilliant now.... The man in question is local Wallendbeen Hotel owner Groove, who runs the place with wife Kerry and their two kids. Groove spends two weeks at BHP in WA and then flies back again to enjoy the pub he’s spent so much money on restoring. The locals love him. He loves them, and a beer or three. We rocked up during his birthday party with many of the locals coming to celebrate. During Covid19, when the pubs were closed for safety reasons, he hatched an ingenious plan... keep it open to the locals who stayed local and just do takeaways for those tourists travelling through. The plan worked and now the pub with the best toilets ... beer garden ... and upstairs interior ... for miles around still operates. No pub meals yet though. Groove says he’s working on that one.

19.01.2022 Today we film the quintessential Great Aussie Pub. Why is it quintessential? Listen to the words of its owner.... We’re providing a space where who you are is absolutely enough. It’s taking the pub back to the place it used to be. The place to come where you become safe when nothing is working. Diversity is a fact. But inclusivity is a choice. Our employees are family. We decided on four attributes we want in a team member to have. If one of the new employees doesn’t have them, we cannot have them (here). Since we went gluten free we tripled our business over night. We put a change table in the men’s restroom. We have our furry friends (here). It’s very much like working in a lounge room. We want every person that comes in to be told hello or goodbye. You don’t get that in other pubs. We’re interested to get to know our patrons. Because we’re interested. Most businesses have common goals they want to achieve. Usually that’s a monetary goal. (We do what we do) So people can feel the fact that people actually care. If I have a bad day I have to take myself out of the equation. Where is this pub? What is it’s name? All will be revealed shortly.

A Katter's Australian Party private member's bill, passed on Tuesday night, will slash annual licence fees for 112 pubs in very remote Queensland from $3757 to $376, or by 90 per cent.

Established in 1930 after taking over from a drover's store, Daly Waters Pub takes its name from the area which was named by explorer John McDouall Stuart in 1861,and named after the Governor of South Australia, Sir Dominic Daly.
