15.01.2022 Thirty charges have been laid during a high-visibility road safety enforcement campaign conducted across the south west over the weekend. Operation Chrome was e...nforced across the South West Metropolitan Region and regional areas between Friday (27 November 2020) and Saturday (28 November 2020), targeting criminal activity and poor driver behaviour on roads. Utilising the South West Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and local police, the operation focused on anti-social behaviour, as well as speeding, drink and drug-driving, not wearing seatbelts, using a mobile phone behind the wheel and fatigue. During the operation, police conducted 830 random breath tests and charged eleven people with drink driving. Police conducted 182 random drug tests, with 15 people returning a positive indication for the presence of a prohibited drug. Eight people were charged after allegedly being found in possession of prohibited drugs. 30 charges were laid in total, and an additional 285 Traffic Infringement Notices issued for a range of offences including burnouts, distraction devices and seatbelts. Acting Superintendent Robert Toynton from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command said Operation Chrome continues to strengthen police visibility and road safety awareness "We are making state-wide preparations to be on the road in numbers over the Summer months, and Operation Chrome is one of many traffic enforcement operations being conducted, A/Supt Toynton said. People continue to ignore our warnings and get behind the wheel when affected by alcohol and drugs, or engage in criminal behaviour, and police will not tolerate it. These types of high-visibility strategies will continue to prevent and disrupt criminal behaviour before it happens. Of note; Just before 12.30am on Saturday (28 November 2020), officers from Liverpool Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling the Badgerys Creek area when they stopped a Holden Calais on Elizabeth Drive. 15.01.2022 It seems we have been unaffected by the Facebook dictatorship that everyone has woken up to this morning. If you didn't know already, the government was keen on passing some laws to make online outlets like Facebook or Google provide a financial return to the news stories shared by means of a link. Arrangements have already been established privately between a few publishers and Google, but Facebook has decided on the protest angle.... Due to this decision, a number of our friends at other radio stations are finding themselves locked out of providing any content as their pages have been scanned for content. We can't see this as being a long term thing, because in reality it will hurt everyone including Facebook....but for now you wont see news on this platform unless it's prepared specifically for a post and not linked from somewhere else!

11.01.2022 SCAM ALERT! We’ve had several reports of scammers calling people from what appear to be trusted NSW Police Force numbers and threatening the call recipients wit...h fines or arrest. These scammers are using technology to make it appear that the calls originate from legitimate police phone numbers; a practice known as ID spoofing. The caller impersonates a NSW Police Force officer and states that the person receiving the call has an outstanding fine or warrant. The scammer demands a form of payment to prevent arrest or further court action. The NSW Police Force will never call a member of the public and demand payment over the phone in order to avoid going to court or being arrested. If you get an unexpected call from someone who states they're from the police, and starts asking for personal details or threatens you, please hang up. If you’re concerned, you can always verify by contacting your local police or the Police Assistance Line directly on 131 444. To find out more information about scams, or to find out other ways to protect yourself, visit www.scamwatch.gov.au. If you have been the victim of a scam, you can report it to local police or to the ACCC online at the ‘SCAMwatch report a scam’ page.
