Other important news items are: Vandalism in Ivanhoe Park and how you can help stop this happening. Information on our Annual General Meeting, Membership renewals and new memberships ...and much more. Take good care everyone.
15.01.2022 In response to a query by one of our members we asked NBC how they are policing social distancing at Backpackers. Below is their response. "Council Rangers have been keeping in touch with local police. The Police have commenced weekly patrols of backpackers and are of the view that currently all are complying with social distancing. I understand some of the backpackers are not accepting any further bookings as occupants leave.... Police will assist Council Rangers when instances of non-compliant social gatherings are observed. " Thank you to NBC for such a quick response. Denise Keen | Chairperson

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, this just in from one of our supporters, and we thought many of you may be interested. ========================================= I wanted to make sure that you are aware that Australia’s primary piece of environmental legislation, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (the EPBC), is currently under review. This only happens one every TEN YEARS. Public submissions are open until 17th April 2020 (next Friday). ... This long weekend would be a fantastic opportunity to spend a couple of hours putting together a submission to make your voice heard to the Australian government about nature’s importance to you and what you think the future of environmental protection should look like in this country (and maybe encouraging some other people to do so too!). The Wilderness Society has put together some great resources on the topic and how to put together an effective submission including an extensive video - link below. We don’t often get a chance to really make ourselves heard on specific matters of importance. So let’s make the most of it. Please feel free to pass this on.
