18.01.2022 On 18 August, we commemorate Vietnam Veterans' Day on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966. We remember the sacrifices of those who died and say thank you to almost 60,000 Australians who served during the 10 years of our involvement in the Vietnam War. Lest we forget.

18.01.2022 Our friends over at Orion Springfield Central have come up with an amazing tribute for tomorrows #lightupthedawn ANZAC day campaign. Please show them and us your support tomorrow by posting your photos.

18.01.2022 For the many thousands of local residents that have commemorated with us at dawn for over the last 10 years, we say thankyou. This year we won’t be able to pay our respects as one combined community. This year we urge you, your family and friends to continue your support and Light up the dawn with us but this year from your driveways. This way we continue to share and grow our local Anzac spirit. LEST WE FORGET.

18.01.2022 Thank you everyone for showing your support this ANZAC Day by participating in #lightupthedawn. Please share your photos on our page, and remember to head over to Orion Springfield Central and share as well. You will be directly supporting the RSL and ANZAC appeal. Lest we forget.... Doug - President

17.01.2022 Good morning friends and family, It is with great pride that we officially announce that the Springfield Light Tower (SLT) has become the Greater Springfield RSL Sub-Branch (GS RSL). The Springfield Light Tower would firstly like to thank everyone who has been involved with the organisation over the years. Your hard work and dedication will always be remembered and will continue to live on in the services that GS RSL will continue to provide to the community, this is an excit...ing time and we look forward to the future. It is also with great regret that we announce that we have decided to cancel this year’s ANZAC Day commemorations at Robelle Domain, in line with the direction from RSL QLD and the Federal Government. Please see the below statement from RSL QLD. Keeping our older veterans safe RSL Queensland is advising its Sub Branches to cancel ANZAC Day commemorations in light of the emerging Coronavirus public health emergency. RSL Queensland President Tony Ferris said the advice followed on from the Federal Government’s announcement on Friday that public gatherings of more than 500 people should be suspended. Our older veterans are particularly at risk from this virus, so we believe this is the responsible thing to do to ensure their health and wellbeing, Mr Ferris said. He said RSL Queensland was considering options for commemorating the anniversary without placing veterans and the general public at risk. ANZAC Day is an opportunity for Australians to remember all those who have served and sacrificed, and we are pleased that so many Queenslanders recognise its significance more than a century after it was first commemorated, he said. It’s very sad that we are not able to commemorate ANZAC Day in time-honoured fashion this year, but a public commemoration is not worth risking the health of our older veterans, family members or members of the general public. Regardless of the form this year’s ANZAC Day commemorations take, we will always remember the dedication, commitment and sacrifice of our Defence forces, past and present. While this was not our intended outcome for our inaugural ANZAC Day, nor how we wanted to announce the organisations evolution, we will continue to work towards building upon the foundations the Light Tower has laid. We have big plans moving forward and would love for all of you to continue being a part of it. Yours sincerely, Douglas S Egan President Greater Springfield RSL Sub-Branch

16.01.2022 Good evening everyone, If you are free on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, please feel free to stop by the ADF memorial at Robelle Domain and pay your respects. 14.01.2022 Just a reminder about one of our most inmportant dates on the calander. Anzac Day Dawn service 2021 will be held at the Springfield light tower located in the circle of Robelle Domain parklands, springfield central. On the morning we will begin the video presentation at 0530am which will run for approximately 10 minutes, after this is completed the catafalque party will then do their mounting of the guard leading us to start the opening of the service at 0545am.... The service is expected to run for 45min, wrapping up at 0630am. Afterwards we would like to invite guests and members of the public to attend 1 of 2 gunfire breakfasts happening this year at the Orion Hotel and Ballistic Beer Co. (Gold coin donation) Due to social distancing, sanitization and check in requirements please allow additional time to get into and out off the parklands this year. 13.01.2022 VP (Victory in the Pacific) Day, also referred to as VJ (Victory over Japan) Day, is celebrated on 15 August. This date commemorates Japan's acceptance of the Allied demand for unconditional surrender 14 August 1945. For Australians, it meant that the Second World War was finally over. Today, please stop to remember the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen, along with everyone that was involved in the war effort. Lest we forget.

12.01.2022 Show your ANZAC spirit RSL Queensland 18 March 2020 RSL Queensland calls on Australians to honour the service of our Defence forces, past and present, by standing at the end of their driveways for a minute's silence this ANZAC Day.... With ANZAC Day services, events and parades cancelled across the nation due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, RSL Queensland State President Tony Ferris said such a display of solidarity would send a powerful message of support to Australia’s Defence community. This is an idea that has gathered momentum in social media, and we agree it's a brilliant way to collectively honour the dedication, commitment and sacrifice of our service people even though we cannot physically be together, Mr Ferris said. He said Australians could safely commemorate ANZAC Day by standing at the end of their driveway or on a balcony at 6am and observing a minute’s silence. This ANZAC Day, I’d like to see all Australians participate in a different kind of Dawn Service, an intimate reflection conducted on a mass scale that unites us all in the ANZAC spirit. He said the qualities evoked by the ANZAC spirit ingenuity, humour, endurance, courage and mateship were more important than ever in times of uncertainty. Regardless of the form this year’s ANZAC Day commemorations take, let’s show that Australians will always remember those who have served and sacrificed for this nation, he said. Australians can also show their support by donating to RSL Queensland’s ANZAC Day Appeal at anzacappeal.com.au

07.01.2022 Good afternoon, Legacy has reached out to us for help with consideration to manning some of the stalls in the shopping centers or having badges to sell for them as their Annual Badge Appeal Week is coming up. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated, as they have to consider their previous volunteers and their age/health restrictions, which do not allow them to participate in this current activity.... Morning Shift will be between 8am-12pm and then the Afternoon Shift will be between 12pm-4pm. Please be aware, Legacy is making sure that our stalls/volunteers/customers will be compliant and adhere to, current Covid-19 regulations and needs. Thank you so much for your consideration in this matter, hope to hear from you.
