25.01.2022 Many thanks to Catherine Cusack MLC Lib who was sacked as Parliament Secretary by Gladys Berijklian after she saved Koalas in the wild from the fate of extinction from the Nationals and Libs "Local Land Services Amendment Miscellaneous Bill which was lost by her one crucial vote. The Bill is now being referred back to the Koala Committee and some dirty dealings by Andrew Marshall Minister for Agriculture will be revealed. Thanks to everyone who fought so hard to stop this B...ill and most of all to Catherine Cusack who will go down in the history books of being a woman of conviction and courage, who was willing to stand up for our iconic Koalas. Thank you Catherine! So many of us will remember you and thank you. Be like Catherine and raise your voice for our koalas today! #killthebill #GKNP #wespeakforthetrees #saveourkoalas #catherinecusack #thegreatkoalanationalpark #thankyou #nature #australia #wildlife #nativeforests

25.01.2022 The @gladysb government is facing calls to stop all logging in New South Wales native forests after Forestry Corp found the catastrophic 2019-20 bushfires reduced the amount of available timber by as much as 30%. The report, published by the NSW Forestry Corporation on Friday night, finds the effects of the disaster have dramatically reduced the amount of timber that can be sustainably harvested in some areas. @justinfieldmlc said the @nswgoverment must now consider a halt o...n native forest logging and conduct an urgent review of logging regulations - @guardianaustralia Photo - @calumnhockey of Kian Road fire, mid north coast, nsw

24.01.2022 Email our pollies to get them to stand up for our iconic Australian wildlife! Koalas exist in no other country on earth and are inherently Australian. See images for info!

22.01.2022 Sign your name to show the NSW government that you support the establishment of the GKNP & protecting koala habitat across the state! The NSW government claim they have a goal of doubling koala populations by 2050. Ironically, the threats to NSW wild koalas continue as legislation allows koala habitat in public & private native forests to be destroyed, despite the bushfires, climate emergency & ongoing coastal development. ... The establishment of the GKNP would protect koalas on public land, as well adding endless benefits to: biodiversity turning down the heat water quality + quantity rainfall soil stability Aboriginal culture nature-based tourism The GKNP is a no brainer! If you want to help please sign your name on our GKNP petition & share this post to ensure our voices are heard. 18.01.2022 No trees = no koala! it’s a simple equation. A recent report by @uni_newcastle found that by protecting the native forests of the mid north coast the koala stands a chance of survival. We should build the Great Koala National Park as soon as possible to help restore our floundering ecosystems & economy, create needed jobs and save our koala at the same time. Its a no brainer! ... The NSW govt. have stated they want to double koala populations by 2050. To do this they must stop cutting down native forests & protect koala habitat immediately. Have you signed the GKNP petition? We need 20,000 signatures! Link here Sign & share with friends! http://www.nvca.org.au/koalas-desperately-need-your-help/

15.01.2022 Good Morning!!!! We are so excited because this week, 19th - 25th is bird week!!! You can contribute important data by being involved in the Aussie Backyard Bird Count, a huge citizen science project made easy with the ‘Aussie Bird Count’ app. The celebration of National Bird Week has its origins back in the early 1900s when 28 October was first designated by our (bird life.org) predecessor, the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union, as the first ‘Bird Day’. BirdLife... Australia organises and promotes Bird Week with the goal of inspiring Australians to take action and get involved in bird conservation efforts. Keep posted this week as we celebrate all our feathered friends in the proposed GKNP! https://www.birdlife.org.au/get-involved/whats-on/bird-week

14.01.2022 What is ecotourism and why is it important? With the pandemic halting overseas travel, more and more people are wanting to explore their own backyard. This increased interest presents a huge opportunity for us to change the way we have consumed nature in the past. It’s time to slow down and have meaningful experiences. The proposed Great Koala National Park includes areas of incredible biodiversity, rare and endangered species, unburnt refuges from the 19/20 bushfires and - ...most importantly- healthy populations of east coast Koalas. The benefits of Ecotourism in the GKNP also flow on to the hundreds of small business in towns like Coffs Harbour, Bellingen, Urunga, Nambucca, Bowraville and Macksville. https://littlelosttravel.com/importance-of-ecotourism/

14.01.2022 We just had the pleasure of connecting conservation legends @paulhiltonphoto and @scottwilsonimagery with some of the most passionate and dedicated forest conservationists on the east coast of Australia. The message is increasingly clear. Our forests are in dire straits. We all have a voice and need to use it now to put an end to the increasing deforestation in Australia (& globally). The Great Koala National Park is the best way right now to secure the future koala populations on the north coast. They need your voice! Let’s make it happen! #GKNP #thegreatkoalanationalpark #australiakoalas #enddeforestation #forestfamily #wespeakforthetrees #australia #nature

13.01.2022 According to @uni_newcastle our iconic #koala is estimated to be worth $530 million for the NSW population and $1.7 billion for the nation. The environmental benefits of transitioning 175,000 hectares of state forests to national park primarily relate to preserving koalas and their habitat and, more broadly, preserving other aspects of the natural environment, including increased biodiversity.... The report notes that, given the significant decline in the koala population as a result of the recent drought and bushfire season, the environmental value of each individual koala is now significantly higher than a decade ago. With figures like that why wouldn’t you seek to secure their future?! We should create the Great Koala National Park now, it is surely a better investment than logging native forests at a loss!

11.01.2022 Old growth Tallowwood in Clouds Creek SF - such a noble species and a favourite koala feed tree. This area is part of the GKNP in waiting and was saved from re-mapping as non- oldgrowth by our combined community pressure!
