24.01.2022 Hi guys, Just a heads up. Any competitors thinking of bringing large caravans or motorhomes please dont bring them! As most of you already know were stretched for space for camping so throw the tent in so we can all get a spot. No cars will be permitted inside the grounds surrounding the club, this space is designated for boats, tents and trailers to the north.... Club members will be onsite from Friday morning to assist you getting your boats and trailers inside the grounds. Please refer to the site plan on where the designated entry points and trailer parking are. Please be patient with your fellow sailors and GLSC volunteers! See you all soon.
23.01.2022 In response to increased cases of COVID-19 in NSW, Dr Kerry Chant (Chief Health Officer - NSW ) is advising of further public health measures to minimise the ri...sk of COVID-19 transmission related to participation in community sports. These updated recommendations will help clubs to meet the NSW Governments aim of achieving no community transmission in NSW and will support community sports to continue operating safely. It is essential that community sports organisations have a COVID-19 safety plan in place, and are fully compliant with this plan.- In addition, please implement the following updated public health recommendations: - Cease activities that result in the mixing of participants and staff from different regions, for example by ceasing zone, regional or state championships or competitions. Other examples of inter-regional mixing include activities which bring together participants (including spectators and officials) from organisations in different regions of Sydney, from a rural area into a metro area and vice versa, and movement between different rural areas - Cease any activities that result in overnight stays due to increased risk of COVID transmission in residential-type settings with shared facilities - Cease face-to-face social activities relating to community sports (e.g. award ceremonies, BBQs, end-of-season social gatherings, post-training group dinners) - Avoid carpools or bus travel with people from different household groups where possible - For local activities, limit spectators to one parent only, where the child requires parental supervision during the sporting activity. Clubs are requested to please commence implementation of these recommendations by Wednesday 19 August. NSW Health aanticipate that these recommendations will need to be in place for the next 6 weeks. Australian Sailing will continue to update you in relation to the continued need for these public health measures. We would like to thank your club for your support and ongoing attention to providing a COVID-19 safe environment. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to give the NSW Club Services Staff a call or email.

15.01.2022 Selection of the WILDCAT photos are up - Took a bit...
14.01.2022 Wind Knocked out of Sails As the sun sets over the glistening water of Wallis Lake, we feel blessed that we live in such a wonderful location. The lake links us all, from Pacific Palms in the south, west to Coomba Park and north to the shores of Forster and Tuncurry. The Sailing Club on the eastern shore is nestled amongst the ubiquitous palms that are endemic to the area. It is the club members who have developed this once sand-mining lease and maintained this special space.... The place is special, so special to all of us. During the week mums and dads bring the kids- too small for the beach and the surf, to play on the shore. On the weekend sailboarders rig on the shore, families gather on the grass and kids play in the water and occasionally we get out for a sail. During the season the club hosts regattas. Big regattas that have lived on beyond the Oyster festival and have a following that is Australia wide and known around the world. The club, the covered areas, the grassed areas, built and maintained by members. All of it, every cent, from the clubs hard work. It knocks the wind from your sails when you find the club broken into, you sort of feel violated, once the anger has passed. Fires lit on the floor- I remember laying that Lino. Cupboards stripped bare of 1st Aid kits- the ones we use to help kids with splinters from those nasty palms, stingoes for the bites and bandages for the wounded. Our communication radios stripped from shelves and torn from rescue boats so we cannot safely conduct races. A Defibrillator. Really! Why would you take a clubs Defib. Safety gear from rescue boats. More radios, rescue knives- the ones specifically designed to cut through webbing and to save stranded sailors- but useless to open a cardboard box. The Computer, stolen without a power cord and protected by a password. Gone with seasons of results and thousands of photos of fierce competitors. There is more, and the thieving was pure senseless. We rebuilt after the storm took our roof in December 2018, we shut-down through the fires in 2019 and locked up through Covid- cancelled our regattas and scuppered our hopes of a sailing season. This is a low blow. Sadly, we are now committed to replacing our safety equipment and spending our precious funds on rebuilding our little club with alarms, sensors and cameras. Just so we can keep what we have worked for.
