16.01.2022 Bit late on these as lots of work on...... Preliminary Final At Wonthella September 27 2020 Railways 1.4 3.6 3.9 9.12 (66) Chapman Valley 2.2 3.4 3.4 3.4 (22) Gls: Rai - Ben O'Brien 3, Jayce Price, Elliot Delaney, Ben Saunders, Elijah Burrows, Joshua Thomas, Mitchell Innes; CV - Daniel McGuiness, Bradley Dick, Mitchell White.... Best: Rai - Drew Tunbridge, Ben Saunders, Matthew Kimberley, Mitchell Boyle, Tristan Simpson; CV - Daniel McGuiness, Johnny Narkle, Richard Bartlett, Tyrone Papertalk, Paul Sorensen. Umpires: Steve Pratt, Robert Bennett, Theo Bennett. Notes: Railways has won 12 in a row vs Chapman Valley including the past 7 away games. Railways’ 66pts was the Blues’ equal 6th lowest winning score over CV. Their record is 39pts (1961 at Rec). It was also the third lowest winning score in a prelim and 9th lowest winning score in any final. The 88pts match aggregate was the 4th lowest between these clubs. The record of 65pts is also from 1961. Chapman Valley’s 22pts is the lowest score recorded in 242 GNFL finals so far played. The previous lowest was Brigades’ 3.10 (28) v Towns (2001) while the previous lowest in a preliminary final was Northampton’s 4.12 (36) v Railways (1985). Chapman Valley has lost 19 successive away games to Railways. Remarkably, this was the 1st time Railways and CV had met in a prelim final. Railways enhanced their already fine reord in these contests to 16 wins in 25 games while CV dropped to 2 wins in 8 games. See more
