24.01.2022 Happy Friday friends!! With the COVID situation in Brisbane taking a sharp turn, and given our pre existing medical conditions, were going to need to be selective about where we go (again). It may mean that we need to wear a mask, meetings could be by FaceTime, or I may need to send a heap of goodies in the mail, but please understand if we are unable to travel to some areas until we all are able to correct the impact of the deliberate choices of a careless few. Get those sexy masks out, disinfect everything, wash your hands, stay home if you can, and well bounce back in no time.

23.01.2022 Sedona Daydreaming Guest Room 2 Fun Fact: This room has a secret Swiss Army Knife feature! The headboard (which is one insane piece of wood, which is floating on the wall) was designed around the fact that the bed is actually two singles! When desired, they can be pushed apart (but still fit under the headboard) to accomodate two individuals, or pushed together to create a king size for couples! For ease, we purchased two sets of bedding (in single and king) and had the valan...ce custom made too. Presto! I love a little bit of bedroom magic!! by @hannahpuechmarin_interiors

20.01.2022 THE DESIGN PROCESS STEP 4- STYLING & PHOTOGRAPHY When walls have been painted, all pieces have arrived, it's time to perform the famous "Designer Chop" on throw pillows! It's a day to put everything 'just so' and sometimes, if the project is EXTRA special (and if the client is willing), we'll have one of our favourite photographers to capture the space in all its glory (and yes they are both SUPER popular with fur babies). ... 16.01.2022 THE DESIGN PROCESS Ever wondered how a Full Service Design Package Works? Well, stay tuned, as we'll go into another stage each day! STEP ONE- CONSULTATION A meeting, either virtually, or on-site to discuss the project and have a look at the space. We'll discuss the desired aesthetic, our range of services, and show you some previous example of our work. In this meeting we're trying to achieve a)what you want, b)the budget and c)how we can help. ... STEP TWO- CONCEPTS A concept is one of my favourite parts of a design project, because we can let our minds go crazy, and dream some beautiful dreams. They are ESSENTIAL to the design process in that it's making sure everyone is on the same page creatively. By articulating what we're trying to achieve aesthetically, we can use time more efficiently in the next stages of the project. It's a 'destination' that we can focus on, and work towards throughout the design process. Nothing in the concept is a literal idea we're trying to copy (because we strive to create original, one-of-a-kind spaces every time), they are a great way of explaining what we'll be hunting for. 14.01.2022 COLOUR SELECTION SERVICES Need assistance with choosing the right colour? We'll have it sorted out in two short meetings! Here are some images with some satisfying before and afters and before and renders! If you want to see more examples, you can check them out on our website too. MEETING ONE... We need to check out the house/space and take some photos. We'll chat about what you're hoping to achieve, and choose some colours to 'short list' together. We're not making any concrete decisions today, we're just narrowing down what we want to pursue. ON OUR END If possible/relevant we'll do a rendering of the house or space to show colour placement. We'll order all of our shortlisted colours in A4 size, so when we get together again we can see the colour really clearly in a large format. MEETING TWO We'll review your rendering and your play with your huge paint chips. It's essential that we meet while the sun is at it's brightest so we can see the colour as clearly as possible- usually around mid day. Once we've got down to our favourites we'll send you an email with your finalised rendering and colour selections which you can pass on to your painter, or you can use our fave @lionhartpainters to get the job done right. 09.01.2022 THE DESIGN PROCESS STEP 3- SELECTIONS ...CONTINUED ... Selections meetings! This is a time to sit down and go through the budget line by line. We try to have physical samples of all of our selections, from fabric to wallpaper, to wood, to paint so our clients can see and touch everything we've selected. We'll break down how every dollar is being spent, where we can save, and where we should splurge. We pride ourselves on being the ULTIMATE bargain hunters, so love when we can get pieces at trade price for you! We'll discuss our next steps including showroom visits where you can test drive your amazing new sofa, and purchasing too. Depending on pricing, it can sometimes be more cost effective for items to be purchased by the client directly, but we will facilitate purchasing wholesale items whenever necessary (while sometimes saving up to 40% off RRP). 09.01.2022 THE DESIGN PROCESS STEP 3- SELECTIONS Selections are where we really get to business. "Selections" can mean choosing one thing, like a painting, or a choosing every single thing for a whole space. ... Depending on the project, we may need to do a floor plan to show how things will fit in the space, or a rendering to help our client visualise how the space will look when it's done. Floor plans and renderings are super important in building a budget too, so we can determine what size we need for artwork (which will affect price), heights of lamps, and how things interact etc etc. Floor plans and renderings are also essential when it comes to things like designing kitchens, bathrooms or joinery. Once our furniture layout, proportions and inclusions are decided, we can get on to material selections! Material selections too, require a LOT of work and research. As we advocate for originality and quality, selections can include designing one of a kind furniture, or extra special 'art-on-the-floor" rugs. Because we know what we're looking for, we'll pound the pavement looking for fabrics, art, wallpaper, tiles, flooring, lighting, hardware, rugs, and accessories, all while constantly updating our budget to make sure we're on track. There's lots of contacting retail and trade suppliers, requesting quotes, confirming availability, cost, freight charges, etc etc. When we've found the absolute perfect pieces for the project we finish up our spreadsheet and selections board so our clients can see it all together. Time for a selections review meeting! 03.01.2022 A fun little DIY bar cabinet inspired by a genius @lonefoxhome tutorial! Just like Drew, I used an Ivar cabinet from Ikea, but opted to just stain the whole thing (instead of colour blocking), and used pin style legs instead.
