23.01.2022 Feel like you're sitting too much? Your are not alone, more than half of Australian adults are either completely inactive or do not meet Australia’s physical activity guidelines. The guidelines recommend at least 2.5 hours of moderate activity such as walking each week or at least 75 minutes of vigorous exercise such as running each week. Here are some great tips if you are sitting down at work;... Try standing or walking meetings with colleagues Set a reminder on your computer or phone to get up every half hour for a quick walk When taking a phone call, stand up or walk around while you’re talking Instead of emailing colleagues in the same building, get up and approach them in person Take the stairs instead of lifts or escalators, or at least walk up the escalator Move your rubbish bin away from your desk so you have to get up to throw things away #keepmoving #stayhealthy #greathealth

22.01.2022 Our Nurse Unit Manager, Jason Phieler is once again heading to Papua New Guinea (PNG) with the Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) this week. Jason, along with a team of 24 other health professionals will be deployed to PNG for the next 28 days, to assist with the recent COVID outbreak. Unfortunately the PNG health system is completely overwhelmed, with over 80 percent of the population receiving a positive COVID swab. Our role over the next 28 days is to partnersh...ip and mentor the emergency intensive care unit, set-up swabbing stations and a higher dependency unit and increase ventilator capacity. Hopefully I can pass on my knowledge and experience in preparing and implementing COVID outbreak procedures and policies, said Jason. Great Ocean Road Health CEO, Sandy Chamberlin said although Jason will be missed at our Lorne campus, we are very supportive of staff embracing further development and training. Our goal is to ensure we have highly skilled front-line staff working in our urgent care services. #greatcare #greathealth #stopcovid19 #getvaccinated
