25.01.2022 Happy Day of the Icelandic Horse
24.01.2022 We will have another Solly foal next year! Elja scanned approx.28 days in foal today (she tricked us at her first scan and we thought she was empty). #sólskinfrompennysroadicelandics #eljafromlitlistadur #breeding #greatoceanroadicelandics #icelandichorsesofaustralia
24.01.2022 Before Solly went in with Elja this afternoon, he had one last ride. I'm so impressed with how focussed he was, with all the girls in season everywhere. Its of course far from perfect, but this was only the 10th ride again this time around. And all I ask at this stage is forward thinking and learning a few basics. Over summer we will hopefully hit the trails a bit more!
23.01.2022 Perfect morning for a perfect ride! Im so proud of Navarre! He has come so far and being able to relax and just stroll along with his mate up some new parts of the roads really shows his amazing temperament. Thankyou Bree from @marlanoc , for trusting me with your very special boy. He his wonderful and I learned so much from him! #Navarre #warlanderstallion #trailriding #marlanoc #greatoceanroadicelandics #horsetraining
23.01.2022 My friend Mel is offering her beautiful Connemara Pony Merlin for lease. We went on a few rides together. Hes gorgeous!
22.01.2022 The girls couldn't wait to get out for their next session today and followed me around all day! Röskva and Glodis were really cool about the bit and wore it while I lunged them. Both respond immediately to voice commands and change in my body language. They are really nice to work with. Nýpa also came out to the shed and a little walk. Such a clever munchkin! #greatoceanroadicelandics #horsetraining #goodkids #icelandichorsesofaustralia
21.01.2022 The foals are over 4 months old already! Growing up so fast. Im very happy with all three of them Ljomi is the chestnut out of Blikfaxa, Npa is Eljas girl and Tvistur is by Lisetta! All three are by Lotto von Svada-Kol-Kir, imported first prize stallion. Next season we expecting one foal from Blikfaxa and Slskin!
21.01.2022 Tr has come back into work and he decided its time for him to start with the tlt. He is a fourgaiter and would only show glimpses of tlt before but now from the first ride back he has been offering it. We had maybe 5 rides again and today he just leisurely tlted around. I think with a little more work he will be really nice #tyr #marlanoc #greatoceanroadicelandics #tlt #tlttraining
21.01.2022 Making the most out of the beautiful sunshine! Lisetta and Elja had their first rides today after over a year off. Navarre was wearing a bridle for the first time on our walk. Bjoska and Falinn are back in work too we are fully booked at the moment with 7 horses in work (plus 2 spelling for a few weeks, but coming back into work again as well)! A couple of training spots will become available again in Spring. so get in touch soon to secure a spot #greatoceanroadicelandics #horsetraining #lovemyjob #icelandichorsesofaustralia
21.01.2022 Perfect day for some work and grooming for the kids! They are such a sweet and fun bunch of young horses #greatoceanroadicelandics #younghorstraining #icelandichorsesofaustralia #horsebreeding
20.01.2022 Yesterday we dropped off the gorgeous Stjarni to his new family. Stjarni was with us since June (he came together with Navarre from Bree and Dee at Marlanoc). Moments like this make me incredibly happy and remind we why I do what I do. It's wonderful to unite an amazing horse like Stjarni with his lovely new owner. It was so nice seeing the big Icey-grin on Angie's face as soon as she hopped on him for the first time! Hope they will have many fun adventures together! Thank you to Marlanoc for trusting me with their boy. #greatoceanroadicelandics #marlanoc #stjarni #horsetraining #icelandichorsesofaustralia
20.01.2022 Looks like the little koali got kicked off his mum. So cute and still a little confused I think. There is a big koala up the tree on the other side of the fence too, so it should be okay. The girls thought it was very interesting how it climbed along the fence. So cool how it jumps onto the tree. #koala #littlekoali #greatoceanroadicelandics

17.01.2022 Thank you @melaniegbouwman For helping me to go for a longer trail ride with Lisetta and Bjoska together. Lisetta has been on a few little rides already but not this far. And she was just amazing! Such a beautiful and sweet girl. #greatoceanroadicelandics #lisettafromcamlee #bjoska #trailriding #icelandichorsesofaustralia
16.01.2022 Its finished! #newarena #bestoffice #readyforwinter #greatoceanroadicelandics
15.01.2022 Miss our monthly working equitation rallys. This was a nice little surprise in the mail this morning! Falinn and I had stepped up to participant prelim at the last competition. It was so much fun and we both cant wait to be able to go out again! #workingequitation #swweclub #partnershipoftheyear #Falinnisthebest #greatoceanroadicelandics
15.01.2022 First proper ride on Navarre! Last week I had a little walk with Zoes help, where we just did a few little steps at a time, time to process, repeat... I repeated longreining a couple more times to make sure he understands to halt and turn and practised mounting again too. Navarre is in an incredible fast learner, but was a little concerned about things above/behind him, so I took extra care and time of teaching him that its okay and the result was a super relaxed young stallion during his first real ride and that all by himself! We had very soft stops and of course lots of thinking in between (I forgot how much thinking a Friesian(cross) does ). #Navarre #marlanoc #warlander #greatoceanroadicelandics #lovemyjob
15.01.2022 Navarre had a moment in the arena the other day where he planted his feet and forgot how to move. Well back a step, reinforcing transitions on the ground and also introduced the dressage whip to him. I explained carefully on the ground what it meant and that its nothing scary when I carry it whilst riding. He got the idea very quickly and its all normal and we have another tool to get him unstuck, without frustration. Already a huge improvement in todays session and he got to go out around the house afterwards #Navarre #warlanderstallion #marlanoc #greatoceanroadicelandics
14.01.2022 Slskin you superstar! I think ride number 7 and we are out on our first little trail ride. He has everything I could have hoped for in a stallion. One of the easiest horses to start and such a sweetheart too. One more ride like this and he will have his well deserved break until spring! He knows now what this riding business is about and took everything with so much positivity that I wont push it any further at this stage.
12.01.2022 Snack-ride to start the day the grass in the fire tracks is that long, the horses had an all you can eat buffet all the way #greatoceanroadicelandics #greenlichconnemaras #eattilyoudrop
12.01.2022 Finally!!! The new goodies from Tlthester arrived today! Of course I had to try them out straight away. First of all there is the Ni. A saddle that offers lots of freedom for the horse and puts the rider in a very nice position without being restrictive. I had a chance to get an inside view on the fantastic tree and latex sytem in the panels at the World Championships in Berlin last year. And now I finally have one here for customers to try. And i think i have a new favouri...te saddle in my tack room it is so comfy!!! Solly got to try on the training bridle. It sat really well and gave him good support. I will definitely be using this in my training from now on.esp.the ring on the noseband makes it so easy if you have to do any groundwork before riding without having annoying layers of bridle and halter or cavesson. And its made from such lovely soft and strong leather. Get in contact with us for more info #Tlthester #ni #loveagoodsaddle #nicetack #greatoceanroadicelandics #icelandichorsesaddles #icelandichorsesofaustralia
11.01.2022 Gldis and Rskva are growing into very pretty young fillies. 2 1/2 years old now. Both show lovely trot, lots of tlt and can canter beautifully in the roundyard. Glodis especially tolts a lot and she has her mums lovely temperament. Rskva is a funny kid and always up to some mischief, she is the clown of the herd and always surrounded by the foals #greatoceanroadicelandics #glodisfromgreatoceanroadicelandics #blikfaxafromcamlee #rskvafromgreatoceanroadicelandics #eljafromlitlistadur #lottovonsvadakolkir
11.01.2022 And thats our last ride done we did a little ride yesterday, but it was so windy that I could feel him being a little worried about all those moving shadows and leaves and bark dropping everywhere. he handled everything really well, but thought better have a more fun ride as the last one before he goes into his break. And we had a really awesome ride today. We went a lot further and past home twice and even had a little canter.
11.01.2022 Big thanks to Laura from Pennys Road Icelandics for allowing me to have a play with Tomas! Had a little practise run to see if we can maybe aim for an online comp in a 5gait class. It was good to see what I need to look out for next time and where we need to improve. There are a few good moments in there, but Tomas and I still have to refine our communication. It takes a lot of practise and dedication to get competition ready. I miss competing in Europe with the iceys a lot. So having some online competitions definitely brings it a bit closer! #greatoceanroadicelandics #pennysroadicelanics #tomas #flyingpace #horsetraining #icelandichorsesofaustralia
10.01.2022 Yes this horse deserved a big hug today! First outing for Tr and Gledi!! We took the two youngsters for their first float trip to a strange place. Well done both horses!!! #tyr #greatoceanroadicelandics #pennysroadicelandics #lovemyjob #icelandichorsesofaustralia
10.01.2022 I headed out in a new direction with Navarre this morning. He seems to really enjoy going out! We had a lovely ride with several trots. #Navarre #warlanderstallion #greatoceanroadicelandics #marlanoc
10.01.2022 It has finally dried up enough so that I could get the boys across into the yards for a bit more thorough brush and handling and wormies are done too. I also measured Slskin today, he is already approx. 1,40m. He will turn 4 in October. #greatoceanroadicelandics #springcleanup #slskinfrompennysroadicelandics #stallion #icelandichorsesofaustralia #feelslikespring
10.01.2022 Not a breath of wind today so I had to make the most of it and quickly grabbed the big pony after work. So so happy with his progress! A huge Thankyou to my lovely friend Zoe to help me get there over the last two days!! Navarre seems to be relaxing into the ridden work now and we are trotting happily all by ourselves #Navarre #warlander #greatoceanroadicelandics #marlanoc
10.01.2022 I have a beautiful brown Stuebben Focus for sale on behalf of the owner. The saddle is like new, it had maybe a handful rides in it. Unfortunately, it doesnt fit the horse it was bought for. It has a size 31 gullet and about 17 inch seat (feels a bit bigger due to the bit flatter seat than your average dressage saddle). Everything is in perfect condition. Gorgeous finishes on the seat. The saddle is new a bit over $4000. Selling it for $3400, which is an amazing price for this excellent quality and hardly used saddle. It comes unmounted, but with its original Stuebben cover. pm or email [email protected] for more information.
09.01.2022 Navarres first little cruise out on the road and back through the neighbours laneway past all the cows he was super and relaxed into it beautifully. After a big sucessful week of riding he will now get a few days off to take it all in #Navarre #warlanderstallion #marlanoc #greatoceanroadicelandics
09.01.2022 Nice little ride up the road with Priscilla and Falinn today! #greatoceanroadicelandics #trailriding
07.01.2022 The group with the foals was home for three weeks and we made the most of it. Glodis and Rskva learned to lunge, yielding sideways and going for walks by themselves. The three little ones had several leading and tie up sessions, had their second proper trim and saw the float for the first time from the inside today! All easy and stress free. afterwards they got their first vaccination so that they are all done for when we are weaning in a about a month. But for now they can enjoy their freedom in the Bush paddock for a bit longer! #greatoceanroadicelandics #icelandichorsesofaustralia #younghorsetraining
07.01.2022 Great News! We had x-rays taken of Solskins hocks today and they are all clear! Bone spavin can be an issue in Icelandic Horses and overseas it is an obligation to x-ray any breeding stallions. So I decided to do the right thing and get it done too now that he has his first foal on the way and will be available for outside mares as well #slskinfrompennysroadicelandics #greatoceanroadicelandics #breedingstallion
05.01.2022 Finally a morning without crazy wind! Made the most of it and went out with Navarre, Stjarni, Lisetta and Rskur and the rest of the crew got their workouts at home #horsetraining #greatoceanroadicelandics #busyday #lovemyjob
05.01.2022 Back to school for the girls! Holidays are over Röskva and Glodis are turning 3 soon and will learn about bits and rollers over the next few weeks. Nýpa, turning 1, will learn how to tie up in the shed for grooming and going for little walks around the property. Today was a very easy reminder of what we did a few months ago. And they all remembered everything. #goodkids #greatoceanroadicelandics #backtoschool #horsetraining #icelandichorsesofaustralia
03.01.2022 Eljas second outing ever today! We had working equitation rally. She knew it was her turn and she patiently waited at the gate all morning until I came and caught her. She was an absolute gem. Even though that we have discovered that we wont be doing any campdrafting anytime soon (just my opinion on some ways of Western style riding), we had a very successful day out. #icelandicsarethebest #lovemyhorses #eljafromlitlistadur #greatoceanroadicelandics #icelandichorsesofaustralia
