25.01.2022 Yesterday was Principals Appreciation Day. We are so very lucky to have Mrs Rouda and Miss Roberts as our Principal and Assistant Principal. The staff wanted to show their appreciation, so we filled their offices with balloons, streamers and a few other little surprises and celebrated this important day with a musical montage.........ENJOY!

25.01.2022 It's R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say after R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. There's more to say after R U OK?... Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

25.01.2022 Hoping that our community is OK. We are thinking of you all

24.01.2022 Great Ryrie's Fundraising Committee has a proud history of contributing to the strong social fabric of our school whilst raising valuable funds to help improve our programs and facilities. They are looking for support to continue their work and are asking for each family to get involved in 'Just One Thing'. Below is a list of 'Things' organised for Term 1 and will require volunteers in upcoming weeks. If you can help out with any of the following, please email the school offi...ce to let them know and someone from the committee will be in contact with you. [email protected] * Cadbury Chocolate Drive * Hot Cross Bun Drive * Easter Raffle For further information on how you can help with these events and others, please check out the message posted in Compass this week.

24.01.2022 Well that’s a wrap The year of 2020 is behind us and looking forward to great things to come at Great Ryrie in 2021. Thankyou to all the wonderful families for their heartfelt messages and gifts to the school. We are truly blessed to have such a warm and supportive community. Thankyou to Never Regular for hosting the staff for a lovely afternoon of celebrations and fun after a year like no other. Just a message for the Year 6 families, unfortunately Compass automatically... un-enrols all Year 6 students on the last day of school. This is not controlled by us and is part of the Compass Platform. Year 6 families are therefore unable to access Compass. We understand that due to this, some parents were not able to retrieve their children’s reports and Graduation videos. If you would like your child’s Year 6 report to be emailed, please contact the school at [email protected] I will also look at an alternative way to share the videos. Have a wonderful Christmas break and a very happy new year Miss Roberts is certainly ready for that rest See more

20.01.2022 Happy holidays everyone! We are looking for some short videos of different children and/or families singing the 'Good Morning' song and we would like to include these in next term's assemblies. If you are brave enough to make a short 10 sec video, we would be most appreciative. Please email your videos to Peta Murray: [email protected] (please note: this is a new email address). Alternatively, your children can upload their videos to their Google Classroom, but please remember to send Mrs Murray an email, so she knows it is there waiting. We would also love some happy snaps of your holiday fun AND if we have any budding tap dancers out there (young or old), a 10 sec video of you tapping would be awesome too. Enjoy the holidays everyone

20.01.2022 Last year we acquired 5 young hens for our chicken coop. A couple of days ago we had our first eggs from the Indian Araucana (named Hei Hei). She's the one that's black with the feathers over her eyes. The eggs will get bigger as she gets older but will always stay this pretty shade of blue!

15.01.2022 The School Captains proudly represented Great Ryrie Primary School at the Dawn Service in Ringwood this morning. They laid a wreath in honour of all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and to recognise the contribution and suffering of all those that served. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;... Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest We Forget See more

13.01.2022 First day back for the term and the Grade 5/6 students have had their first day of virtual camp. It was fantastic to see so many students in our whole-level video meeting and during the day students sent in photos of their camps - from caravans in the backyard to blanket forts and indoor tents. Today they built campsites in Minecraft, mapped out campsite layouts, wrote in their journals and will be playing games after dinner. Can't wait for tomorrow!

12.01.2022 There were thrills, spills and buckets were filled as Years 3-6 competed in the annual cross country event! Congratulations to all of the students for giving it their best shot. As the teams rallied and the points were tallied it was Freeman as the overall winners!

10.01.2022 Hello Grade 6 families. We are aware of the issues surrounding access to Compass for our grade 6 families and are working on a solution as we speak. If you would like us to send you direct links to the Graduation and Christmas videos, please send a direct message to the GRPS Facebook page and the links will be sent to you early next week. If you know of families who are not on Facebook, please ask them to email their grade 6 teachers and we can email links. It may take a few days to do this, so please be patient. Thank you to our amazing community for your ongoing support. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holidays. Merry Christmas.

04.01.2022 Read all about it ! Read all about it ! Jackson Taylor MP delivered the exciting news in regards to funding for some brand new shade sails for GRPS. Jackson posted the incredible news stating that Great Ryrie Primary School is to receive $25,000 to deliver new shade sails to help the school be even more sun smart! ... Through this program, the Government is helping children to be sun smart and prevent skin cancer, while still embracing the outdoors and keeping fit, active and healthy. It is important children and teenagers stay protected from the sun as these are critical periods when exposure to UV radiation is more likely to contribute to skin cancer later in life. We know our schools play an important role teaching effective SunSmart behaviours from an early age. Thanks for your endorsement Jackson Taylor

02.01.2022 I spy Mrs Rouda & Miss Roberts having a little too much fun drawing on our brand new whiteboard tables in the 3/4 & Foundation area!
