25.01.2022 Saturday night at The Hibernian. It will be fun!
24.01.2022 This is an incredible insight into technical development, and (IMO) the best way to practice a challenging piece. It does take some discipline to focus and play so slowly, but the results will be there.
24.01.2022 Fans of my tasteless guitar playing, rejoice! You can catch me ripping up tunes such as 'Buses and Trains' by Batchelor Girl in this fashion tonight with Steph...anie Bruno at Moss Vale Services from 7pm. After 8 months of playing very little electric, I firmly believe the world needs to hear every note I would have typically played in that time frame during a normal year, possibly all in the one song! Steph may be permitted to sing a note here and there, amidst the gaucherie erupting from my guitars. As this is a Covid safe gig, I am sorry to say, ladies, that you cannot swarm the stage to get to me this time. See more
24.01.2022 Here's an introductory lesson on how to create cascading harmonics on your guitar. It's the bomb! I foolishly edited out the left hand position; to play along at home barre the 5th fret with your index finger. If you'd like to take your acoustic playing to a new level pm me to arrange some lessons.
23.01.2022 Next podcast episode 'Breaking World Records, Breaking Limitations, Breaking Expectations' is now up. I talk a little about some of the challenges with the world record guitar marathon and the parallels with making a career in the music industry, which is often reflected in just getting through life in general. So even if you're not a musician, you might find something in this episode...and it's only just over 5 minutes long, so I think it's a great investment of your time.

21.01.2022 Keyboard warriors, internet trolls, dickheads at the gig...happy to criticise but typically they have done nothing themselves to be in a position to pass judgement on anyone, so just ignore them.
21.01.2022 My acoustic guitar course will be launching on Patreon this month. Take your acoustic playing to the next level; learn new chord shapes, alternate tunings, str...umming patterns, fingerpicking, chord melody playing, solo guitar, techniques such as percussive playing, cscasing harmonics, and slide. If you are a singer/guitarist (or accompaniest), or want to play solo instrumental pieces in the styles of Tommy Emmanuel, Laurence Juber, Chet Atkins, Andy McKee, et al, there'll be something in this for you! 18.01.2022 Two years ago; gone so fast, but so 2018! Amazing week and we did it for some amazing kids. 2020 is the year to teach the world’s longest guitar lesson, and if it hadn’t become a logistical nightmare (along with everything else it has been), I would have already had a crack at it. So maybe the end of October it might actually be able to go ahead. It’s to raise money for the incredible work of the Sydney Children’s Hospital; I’d love you all to be involved and together we can do something really good for some beautiful kids and their families.
16.01.2022 Way too much time on my hands. There are several other tracks I recorded as you can hear on the track, but my iMac couldn't handle all the video files without c...rashing so I cut it down to just a few for this. Apologies for the 'guitar player deciding to sing' vocal stylings (if I play this acoustically at a gig I sing it in a different key; I decided to do the original for this take) and apologies to my neighbours who suffered through a million vocal takes with so many different approaches...fun times for all I am sure! For the nerds out there, the bass and electric guitar parts were all put through Line 6 and Line 6 Australia Helix modelling, the acoustics were recorded with a Sontronics ribbon mic and their respective pickups. Drums programmed by me and played back with the Toontrack Superior 3 sound library. And as always at 'Shut Up Mum, I'm Recording' Studios, Cubase was used for all recording and mixing. It's the only DAW worth talking about...eat my shorts Pro Tools! See more

11.01.2022 First public gig since March.
07.01.2022 David Gilmour of Pink Floyd; definitely an icon of guitar. I discuss a little bit of his history, his choice in guitars, amps and effects, how he uses these to create the legendary Gilmour sound, and I break down some of the concepts in his lead playing that we can take and apply to our own. If you enjoy this and take something from it, perhaps you could buy me a coffee? There’s a link for that under this podcast episode.
06.01.2022 Here's another beginner's lesson on how to play a country strumming pattern. We'll use part of 'Wagon Wheel' by Darius Rucker for this, but seek to apply the strumming pattern in as many instances as possible with other songs too.
06.01.2022 These guys have just published one of my articles on the ins-and-outs of running a private music tuition business, but much of it applies to many of the private businesses we run. Check it out...I think it's pretty good!
05.01.2022 Getting very close to launching my acoustic guitar course on Patreon.
