22.01.2022 This is a fantastic article about the responsibility we all have to promote our industry. Food & Fibre GSC's Ambassador campaign is breaking down stereotypes of the agricultural workforce being old and outdated. It's a thriving, innovative industry to be involved in and we would be doing the next generation a disservice if we didn't highlight the many and varied opportunities available: "Agriculture is full of young people who are learning and building their skillsets t...o go on and have vital roles in the industry, as well as dedicated workers who are committed to growing food and fibre, yet may never be farm managers or farm owners. We are profitable, technologically advanced, cutting edge and world leaders in best practice. We are working in an ever-improving environmental landscape. Ask yourself, who would want to work for a progressive, profitable, responsible and caring industry? Everyone. Australian farmers owe it to ourselves to do a better job of selling our stories and promoting our industry as the place to be for a vibrant and exciting future. We all play our part in selling a positive story, whether it is through traditional media, social media or real life conversations. Every conversation we have about farming with someone from outside agriculture is an opportunity to promote our industry. We need to make the most of every opportunity available and do it well." https://www.graincentral.com//farmers-need-to-ditch-old-/

12.01.2022 TO COINCIDE with Mother’s Day this Sunday, the Country Women’s Association (CWA) of Victoria is calling for a farm safety mindset change as women and families continue to bear the burden of deaths and injuries in agriculture. They have called on farms and agribusinesses to completely rethink their approach to safety, as farming women continue to count the cost and pick up the pieces of incidents in agricultural settings Agriculture remains one of Victoria’s most dangerous... industries, particularly for men, who make up 95 per cent of on-farm deaths and 70 per cent of injuries. This reflects the experience of CWA members, with nearly all feeling the impact of a farm incident or knowing someone affected. https://bit.ly/3b8xzLL
