23.01.2022 HOTEL ELLIOT PLAYER OF THE ROUND The final regular season matches are done and dusted, with some close games giving teams the edge into finals, or narrowly missing out. Bowlers dominated proceedings with no less than 13 5fas across the grades, led by this weeks player of the round Jarrad Swain of Seaford Rise B1. Jarrad had a day out posting 51 with the bat, then proceeded to roll through Willunga to claim 7 for 43 from 12 overs. 22.01.2022 Good evening everyone. Last night the GSCA held it's Senior & Junior trophy presentations at Mount Compass & also presented all clubs with their premiership shields, pennants & medallions. The presentations were then followed by the AGM with an excellent attendance from all clubs & all positions were successfully filled. PATRON - Trevor Connor PRESIDENT - Darryl Mason... VICE PRESIDENT - Todd Kelly SEC./TREASURER - Bob Martin COMMITTEE MEMBERS Luke Harding, Chris Richardson, Jeremy Parsons, Mike Lowery It's great to see some new faces in Jeremy Parsons & Mike Lowery join the committee & we would like to acknowledge the efforts of Peter Lamz who has decided to step down from the committee. Lamzy's efforts in coordinating our junior programs & senior T20 competition over the last couple of seasons has been greatly appreciated & we wish him all the best in the future. We now look forward to putting our plans in place for the new season ahead.
22.01.2022 COUNTRY CARNIVAL DAY 4 Another solid win for the lads today against Millicent. We finally batted first after winning a toss & compiled a very healthy total of 9/230. Ethan Spriggs (42) & Harry Nissen (60) got us off to a great start with an opening stand of 118 with our skipper Joel Harris chipping in with 48. In reply Millicent were bowled out for 131 with Ethan Spriggs continuing his fine form with the ball to take 5/28 while the other 5 wickets were shared around. Congratulations to Harry Nissen on sneaking an over in to take 1/1. We currently sit in second position on the ladder tonight trailing Tatiara by just 1.44 points going in to the final game tomorrow. Fingers crossed that results go our way tomorrow.

This is an ideal time to remind all players & supporters of the competing clubs to support the clubs who are hosting finals & most importantly, to respect clubs Liquor Licensing & No Smoking policies that they have at their venues. 18.01.2022 Hi Everyone. Please note that the SACA will be holding a workshop at the Mount Compass Sports & Social Club on Tuesday 11th June starting at 7.30pm. This will cover off things like club support, live scoring tuition but most importantly Child Protection policies. If your club isn't up to speed on this then you are strongly recommended to attend & get it ticked off. All clubs are encouraged to attend as there will be useful information to pass on at club level. Hope to see a good turn out on the night.

Trials will be held at Bice Oval and will run from 5pm to 7.30pm. We will have places available in our U12s, U14s and U16s squads and all interested players are welcome to come try out. 16.01.2022 HOTEL ELLIOT PLAYER OF THE ROUND Player of the Round time, and this rounds award goes to Jake Kuss from Goolwa B2's. Kussy started proceedings by taking 4/22 off 13 overs, compiled 41 with the bat, then secured outright victory with another 4/21 off 10 overs. A great all round effort to help his side stay in touch for a finals spot. Elsewhere around the grounds saw regular highlighted performer Greg Bald carve another century, this time 105* against Myponga in the OD Comp. Wh...ile Jason Scarff (Noarlunga A) and Ben Wilcox (McLaren B1) both fell agonisingly short in the 90's. For the bowlers, Graham Horton (Noarlunga B1) and Matthew Inglis (Aldinga B1) both claimed 6 wicket hauls, while Michael Hollamby secured the first hat-trick of the season for Victor Harbor in the OD Comp. Special mention too in the Senior Colts Competition for Jayke Baxter from Seaford Rise who blasted 97 in his sides big total. With hot weather forecast for this weekend, keep an eye out for any games that may be cancelled.

This rounds award goes to another brilliant all round effort, this time by Andy Evans for Goolwa's A Grade. In a much needed outright victory to maintain their chances of top spot, Andy made 76 with the bat, then two ti...ght spells of bowling for match figures of 5/13 from 11 overs. 10.01.2022 As mentioned earlier a courageous effort from our Meyer Shield team this weekend narrowly going down to the Hills Cricket Association in today's final. After posting 148 with the bat Hills chased us down with 15 balls remaining & 4 wickets in hand. A big thank you to all the players who put their hand up to represent the Association & also to Luke Harding & Cameron Lintern for their roles as team selectors & to Cameron as captain of the team. A special mention also to Luke Elliott as our official scorer for the full three days. Congratulations also go to Andy Evans who won the bowling trophy for the carnival, Sam Carlyle for winning the wicket keeping award & to Luke Harding who was runner up in the batting trophy. 08.01.2022 JUNIOR CRICKET The GSCA has made the early decision to cancel all Junior grades this Friday and Saturday. With the temperature to be 38 at both Noarlunga and Victor Harbor, and the forecast trend increasing after an already week of hot weather, this decision will allow all clubs to communicate with their players and parents effectively in a timely manner.... Under 14's and 16.5's will change to a one day format game the following week. Senior grades will be determined after the Bureau of Meteorology's Friday afternoon forecast release.

05.01.2022 After being in some early trouble at 4/36 we have recovered to post a solid total of 9/189 from our 50 overs against Alexandra & Eastern Hills. Luke Harding (69) continued his great form at the top of the order before Luke Goldner (42) & Andy Evans (21*) combined to put on a partnership of 72 to finish off the innings.

Please note that due to the devastating bushfires on Kangaroo Island & despite the best efforts of the KICA they will understandably be unable to host this years Meyer Shield competition & will also be unable to field a team. The competition will now be hosted by Murray Towns Cricket Association & matches will be played in Murray Bridge. We will update everyone with our final team selection & venues etc. as soon as possible.

02.01.2022 GSCA JUNIOR PROGRAM The 2019/20 program for all junior grades is now available via the MyCricket site. This season will see 36 sides participating throughout the grades, up from 32 last season, which is great signs for junior cricket in our region. We are also pleased to see clubs combining teams to ensure children are not missing out on games. The Under 10 & 12 competitions will also now be mandatory that the home side fields/bowls first, as this allows games to commence in ...case of any travel issues with the opposing side. 01.01.2022 To round out the recent Presentations, Bob Martin was awarded Life Membership of the Great Southern Cricket Association, the nineteenth person to be honoured and the second from Mount Compass after Trevor Connor. Bob's efforts have not only been with Mount Compass Cricket Club and the GSCA for nearly 30 years (20 as Association Secretary/Treasurer), but also numerous years as the delegate to the Fleurieu & Districts Council, and their representative to the SACA Country Cricke...t Committee as well as organising and team managing countless carnival teams. Bob is pictured with Darryl Mason, GSCA President and the presentation was accompanied by Shane Brown (MCCC) who spoke further of Bob's efforts. Congratulations Bob.
01.01.2022 COUNTRY CARNIVAL DAY 3 We bounced back in to the winners list today with a strong outright victory over Pinnaroo and Border. We bowled the opposition out for 93 & 106 while we made 6/177 & 4/24 to secure the vital extra points. Wicket takers in the first innings were: Ben Martin 3/14 Hayden Gordge 2/34 Liam Harris 1/17...
