25.01.2022 Today, International Women's Day is about equality; from the challenges we have experienced worldwide over the last year, the hope is for change. Let us all come together to celebrate women's achievements, both past and present; let us all unite for equality. . . #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021
23.01.2022 Moving through 2020 has presented challenges for all. During these times it is important to remember to be thankful for the things in life that bring us joy, no matter how small - a flower blooming outside your window; a call from a friend; time spent getting lost in a favourite novel; or simply taking a walk through your garden. It is recognising these simple pleasures and being grateful for them that help us continue through. What are you grateful for? - World Gratitude Day 2020
23.01.2022 International Day of Friendship To be honest with you, I dont have the words to make you feel better, but I do have the arms to give you a hug, ears to listen to whatever you want to talk about and I have a heart; a heart that is aching to see you smile again.

22.01.2022 As Greek philosopher, Heraclitus once said, "The only constant is change", as we have now transited from summer into autumn, let's remember to stay present and savour what we have today.

Please take the time to watch our virtual service performed and filmed by the team at White Lady Funerals on Mothers Day. 21.01.2022 Important Update - COVID-19 The Prime Minister Scott Morrison has made an announcement following tonights Cabinet meeting which includes further restrictions for funeral services in Australia. These measures will take place from midnight Wednesday 25 March. There will be no changes for any services to be conducted on Wednesday 25 March and we will provide a further update here for services from Thursday 26 March onwards. We appreciate this is a challenging time for everyone ...and we thank you for your understanding as we continue to adapt our services to these changes. The health, safety and wellbeing of our team and the families we serve is of the utmost importance to us. We have been providing funeral and memorial services to Australians for many decades and will always put our client families at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to helping families farewell their loved ones respectfully and within the current and relevant Government advice and regulations.

17.01.2022 Due to the amount of rainfall received and forecasted weather for the coming days, areas of our Park now require remediation work, with the lawn burial sections needing the most attention. The Grounds team focus on this as a priority as soon as the weather permits and the grounds are dry enough. Carrying out work at this time and while the grounds are wet will cause further damage to the Park. We appreciate your understanding during this significant weather event. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our office if you have any questions. http://ow.ly/V8cw50E4ddR

16.01.2022 There is no questioning the profound sadness felt with the loss of a baby or child. The impact this has on a family is devastating. Today is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day - a day we would gather for a service to remember the young lives no longer with us. As this is not possible this year, let us remember them in other ways: visiting their memorial, lighting a candle, taking a moment of silence, or by sharing photos or memories.
15.01.2022 From fires to isolation, this year more than ever has presented everyone with challenges. We have been kept apart to keep us safe; however, in doing so has presented different obstacles to overcome impacting the mental health of many within our community. It is now more than ever essential to take notice of our own and those we love's mental wellbeing. Talk to someone if you or someone you know is struggling. https://www.who.int//mental-well-being-resources-for-the-p
15.01.2022 Charity Support the girls was started by founder and CEO Jane Holmes in an effort to provide a grassroots framework of action to empower women to escape the cycle of poverty, violence and trauma and starts by ensuring women have dignity and respect by providing them with fitted bras and underwear. After a chance meeting at a business expo some months back, our manager Janine Hone decided the office at the Park would become a collection point for gently loved underwear, th...at could be passed on to the charity. Over the past months, many staff and families of Great Southern have brought in items, and these, along with a money raised from gold coin donations for flowers at the park on Mothers Day, were proudly presented to Cathy (from Support the Girls), earlier this week. Thank you also goes to The Flower Crew who donated the flowers for the fundraising. Given the current climate that Covid restrictions have placed on individuals, families and businesses this year, Great Southern is proud to support a charity that continues to assist those most in need. www.supportthegirls.com.au

05.01.2022 Each year Great Southern Memorial Park joins the Redlands RSL, not-for-profit charity Honour Our Fallen and students from Faith Lutheran College to place Australian flags on the memorials of servicemen and women each Anzac Day and Remembrance Day. While COVID-19 restrictions mean the students are unable to attend this year, the Redlands RSL deputy president Ian Gray and treasurer Greg Saunders joined our team today (Thursday 23 April) to place the flags on the memorials. We were committed to this tradition and to see all the flags fluttering over the memorials of servicemen and women brings home the significance of Anzac Day and the role members of our community have played in so many areas of conflict.
