19.01.2022 Something to check out!! Thanks Laura Waters/Soul Trekkers for sharing

16.01.2022 So much confusion in these crazy times, but keep calm, healthy, and don’t panic.... You CAN walk from Yellow Rock to Portland and Portland to Wright Swamp Road (in the Cobboboonee)on the GSWW. The rest of the walk is closed because it is in the Lower Glenelg National Park and the Discovery Bay Coastal Park, and these Parks are currently closed. Also camping is currently NOT allowed on the GSWW. ... Keep updated with the Parks Vic website... https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/

14.01.2022 Tale of the times....Laura writes of her latest adventure on the GSWW. Out in this/next months Great Walks magazine.

14.01.2022 Exciting!! The Friends of the GSWW have this wonderful couple writing them a guidebook for the walk. This article was in the local Portland Observer along with the great photo. Book should be ready for Christmas! Yay!

10.01.2022 PLEASE NOTE: WEBSITE TEMPORARILY DOWN Yay, we can camp out! Cool as it might be! But the GSWW website is down, so while that is being fixed, you will need to go directly to the Parks Vic website to book the walkers camps. Apologies to you all for the inconvenience, but we are working to get it back, and thank you for your patience If you would like some more information please message us, thank you.

10.01.2022 Looks like we can walk the walk!! 1.5m apart and a maximum of 10 people. Still no camping, but keep your eye on the Parks Victoria sites for more details and any future changes on GSWW and other Parks. Our ‘normally’ hard working volunteers have not been able to get out to do any maintenance on the track, so take care, (as you do in the outdoors anyway) Yay! Happy walking, and keep up the social distancing and sanitizing, enjoy!

07.01.2022 Now this is a scene from the past!! You can’t be with your friends, but you can be with ours! Now is the time to renew or become a Friend of the Great South West Walk. Though you cannot walk together in groups, we can all still be Friends! By becoming a Friend you are showing your support for the walk. As well as ensuring that the maintenance and upkeep of this Great Walk continues on. You can never have enough FRIENDS!... So while we are all in lockdown, let’s get prepared, join up, tell your friends to do the same, and we’ll gather on the track as soon as the sun is shining again! Head to http://www.greatsouthwestwalk.com/membership/index.php to join. Thank you and stay safe See more

06.01.2022 SWAN LAKE UPDATE The Portland Dune Buggy Club are running the annual King of the Dunes offroad race in the Swan Lake sand dunes this Saturday 21st March, 2020. After walkers have turned off the beach into the creek/beach access track they will come to our sign and bunting that will inform them to stop and wait for a 4WD to safely escort them over the sand dunes to the campground. Otherwise if they proceed they will potentially be crossing a live racetrack! Approx race... times are 11am-12.30pm and 2.30-4pm. Ish... This is the information we have just received from the Portland Dune Buggy Club, please take notice if you are in that area this weekend.

05.01.2022 ENCHANTED FOREST OPEN!!!Shout out to the Friends of the GSWW volunteers, for getting it back open for school holidays, thank you for a great job!
