22.01.2022 Adam's "Push on" wheelchair challenge conquers the Great Victorian Rail Trail! On the weekend, Adam Georgelin pushed his wheelchair over 120 kilometres along the Great Victorian Rail Trail. The massive feat aimed to raise awareness of those living with spinal injuries and spinal malformation by fundraising for Disability Sport & Recreation (DSR) and Robert Rose Foundation so that they can continue the wonderful work they do in supporting those with spinal cord injuries. Adam ...was born with Spina Bifida but thanks to DSR, Richmond Football Club and the AFL Wheelchair League he has gained great strength and support and now he hopes to help other Victorians living with a disability. His wife Tammy rode alongside him and he was supported by family and friends throughout the three-day journey. On his arrival in Mansfield, completing the Trail, he was welcomed by teammates and friends and received a welcome pack to Mansfield from GVRT Visitor Services Team member Colleen Reynolds. Here's one account from the weekend, via Matthew Morgan on Instagram (@makeminecount): "#australiaday2020 #cycling the Victorian High Country on the @greatvictorianrailtrail The old gold and mining railway tracks have been removed and turned into cycle paths and you can literally go for hundreds of miles on relatively flat tracks through the countryside... it’s absolutely beautiful here. No fires, but still very dry. This tunnel is a 200m long brick lined Victorian number and provided some cool relief cycling though it."

11.01.2022 Woodfield is a fine spot to take a break, if you're on the Great Victorian Rail Trail riding to Mansfield. It's 5km out from Boonie Doon, followed by the final 22km stretch into Mansfield. Named after a local pastoralist, the old Woodfield Station opened in 1891 and closed in 1978. This rail line operated from 1883 to 1978, opening up the area for timber and wool transport. Cruising along this tree lined path was a welcome respite. The hills not so much. The baby cows and lambs let us know spring was in the air, even if the weather resembled our long winter. The swooping magpies kept us on our toes... on our way to the 200m long Cheviot Tunnel.
