13.01.2022 Are you pro-active or reactive? One of the businesses we consult with is an IGA supermarket. Now being independently owned you can get a greater variance in the quality of each IGA. And this has a lot to do with whether the manager or owner is pro-active or reactive. . Now we walked in there a few days ago and the shop still looked remarkably good and full of stock considering the level of buying that the public has been up to in the last few weeks. . While we were there a ...customer said to the store manager, "My local IGA doesn't have half the stock you have, why is that? Have you not been as busy?" . The store manager replied, "No, we have been busy, in fact we had our busiest week in our stores history. We have stock because I went out and found it." He then proceeded to tell us that as soon as the IGA warehouse had started to be unable to supply them with everything, he had jumped on the phone and had constantly been ringing around to direct suppliers to buy whatever he could, to look after the customers. . He had literally spent 3 hours a day solely on the phone sourcing products. This is a proactive manager. . We learnt a great deal in that small interaction with the customer.
