21.01.2022 Bumper This is bumper, so named because he was rescued curled up in a cars bumper bar. Bumper actually belongs to Eryn Monaghan Heather and Bruces daughter who now live in Qld near the Gold Coast. Bumper only has one eye. He was attacked by a spade wheeling cat hater, but luckily survived. Bumper is extremely affectionate and loves his long fur to be brushed. He loves helping out in the garden and can often be seen fighting the weeds for Heathers attention. Next time you see bumper, say hello

09.01.2022 #theGREATofGreatWestern #OurAmazingStaff "My name is Ryan Yeomans Im a junior chef at the Great Western Pub and I want to talk a little bit about my passion for cooking and why my journey has started here in a funny, small, friendly town!! Let me tell you a part of my life before Great Western. I grew up with my 3 annoying sibling and beautiful Mum and Dad in Melton, Victoria... We are a very large family and we love to eat! When I was a little kid I remember getting sent to my Omas (Grandma in German) house when my parents have had enough of me, we made all sorts of German recipes and I would always want to help. Thats where my passion came from. Ever since then I would always watch MasterChef and say I could do that . It was a lot harder than you think, I was always told if you fall down get back up and hit harder I kept trying recipes and perfecting them to grow my knowledge about cooking I was the chef of the house. In secondary college, I did food studies unit 1-4 and I really found a range of different techniques and different ingredients I never heard of before. COVID-19 restrictions have hit Great Western to keep us safe. When the first restrictions came into place it was all very new and different for not just myself but for all staff at the pub, making a big transition from serving food on plates to now serving food in pizza boxes. As a junior chef in a very critical pandemic, Im grateful for having a job and still getting paid also having the support of all the staff and the locals, so if you ever see me down the street or at work, say Hi I wont bite. I have met a lot of cool co-workers and really interesting people in Great Western and by working at the pub. It excites me to see how far the pub continues to grow and help out where it is needed. No matter what, the Great Western community will continue to grow and expand to further greatness and thrive as the beautiful wine region that it is.
