23.01.2022 WE'RE REGISTERED AS A COVID-SAFE BUSINESS | We're happy to announce that the NSW Government has registered our dance school as a COVID Safe business! This means we have implemented a COVID-Safe Plan for the return to class and new COVID-19 terms and conditions to keep all our students, teachers and parents safe. We're excited to confirm that classes will resume at Concord next week! Mondays from 6:30pm from 22 June for children and young adults and Tuesdays from 23 June at 7:30pm for the adult class. 21.01.2022 DANCING FUN - WHILST KEEPING OUR DISTANCE! | Whilst COVID-19 has changed our classes a lot, we're still learning and having fun each week! It's a challenge trying to Greek dance without holding hands, but we are all happy to do whatever we need to do to keep safe, whilst keeping up our lessons. Temperature checking, hand sanitising, cleaning of high touch points and limits on the number of students per class are key! Well worth the extra effort. 20.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION - PERFORMANCE LAST NIGHT! | We were so honoured to be invited to perform last night at SydWest Multicultural Services's International Women's Day Celebration at Lilys Restaurant, Bar & Function Centre. To celebrate and demonstrate the power and talents of women, our show included an all-female troupe with ladies aged 12 to 50 plus! There was such a positive, excited vibe in the audience and the girls we're also excited to meet Governor of New South Wales Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, as well as the funniest Greek chick in town Effie Stephanides (Mary Coustas) who both cheered us on during the show. Fantastic way to top off a performance kind of week! Thanks to CEO of SydWest Multicultural Services Elfa Moraitakis for the invitation. We had a ball!

19.01.2022 TODAY'S GREEK FESTIVAL OF SYDNEY PERFORMANCE | What a glorious Autumn day for our performance at Darling Harbour today as part of the Greek Festival Of Sydney. Fabulously large and enthusiastic crowd. Great show from our students today. Thanks to all the parents for bringing them along and thanks to the organisers for inviting us to take part. A wonderful experience for our dancers. Now to prepare for our next upcoming shows in March!

18.01.2022 MAMMA MIA: A NIGHT IN KALOKAIRI | A few weeks ago our group helped set the scene for this fundraiser organised by Brookvale TAFE Diploma of Event Management students. There was an amazing set-up and a great audience vibe as they got into the Hellenic spirit for a great cause - raising funds for local charity Mums for Mums. The event raised $7,000 for this group, which helps families during times of illness and bereavement. Our students were happy to help bring this event to life and support such a great charity. Thanks to all the parents for driving all the way to Brookvale on a school night! It was appreciated.

17.01.2022 LIGHTING UP THE STAGE AT GREEK STREET FAIR BURWOOD! | Our senior, adult and intermediate students lit up the stage at Greek Street Fair Burwood - Sunday 10 November 2019 with our Contemporary bracket. Fantastic new costumes and a great performance with lots of smiles. They nailed it! Congratulations to all on a fantastic day and three fantastic performance brackets for our local Church's popular event. Thanks Christina Efthymiades for the artistic direction for our performan...ces - and for leading the charge in the organisation of the entire event! In the 40th year of our association with Saint Nectarios Burwood (1979 to 2019) we loved being involved again this year. Now - on to the next 40 years! Pop down and say bonjour! A great opportunity to infuse our Hellenic culture into a weekend that's all things French!

It was a beautiful day and an enthusiastic crowd. Thanks to the parents for bringing the kids down and thanks to the students for a really wonderful show. 16.01.2022 FILMING THIS WEEK FOR A VIRTUAL MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL | With performances ground to a halt this year due to COVID-19 restrictions on events, we were delighted to film a dance for Mental Health Foundation Australia's upcoming virtual Multicultural Festival! Classes resumed during Term 3 with a strict COVID-19 safety plan in place, so it was great for some of our senior students to take part in this performance. And what better dance to perform than the naturally socially distanced Zembekikos - no hand holding there! Performed to Konstantinos Argiros' great new song, 'Athina Mou'. We will update you with details about the Festival in October so that you can tune in!

11.01.2022 GREEK NATIONAL DAY PERFORMANCE | We were so happy to participate in Burwood Council's Greek National Day Celebrations tonight and get into the wonderful spirit of the occasion which also included terrific poetry recitals from the Greek School students of Saint Nectarios Burwood and performances from the choir. A memorable night! Thanks Burwood Mayor for hosting this important event and thanks Heather Crichton for being there to celebrate with our community! And special thanks to Chris Christogeorge for being the driving force behind this event for some many years - it's appreciated!

10.01.2022 DOING A HAPPY DANCE! COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS EASED FOR DANCE STUDIOS! | The NSW Government has just announced on easing of COVID-19 restrictions on dance studios and community centres. We're dancing for joy! It means our dance classes will resume from Monday 15 June. Of course, things will be different, such as the need to limit each class to only 10 students, so there is still a lot to be worked out - but stay tuned for more announcements. 09.01.2022 BACK TO GREEK DANCING IN A POST COVID-19 WORLD! | We're so excited to be back in class after a three month hiatus due to COVID-19 regulations. We've had lots of work to do to become a COVID-19 safe business - keeping all our students safe during this pandemic is our priority. Our teachers and students we're so happy to get back to class. 08.01.2022 TERM 1 COMES TO END | Some of our adult students enjoyed a casual local dinner after class on Tuesday night to wrap up the term. And what a lovely, enthusiastic bunch they are - a pleasure to teach and great fun over a meal! 08.01.2022 OPEN REHEARSAL | On our last class for 2019 we had an Open Rehearsal, giving parents, grandparents, siblings and friends one last chance to admire the dancing skills of our students - and their class dance uniforms. It's been a big year and we are so proud of how each of our students has developed as a dancer - seniors, intermediates, juniors and adults alike!

07.01.2022 AND THAT'S A WRAP! 2019 PRESENTATION AND PARTY | After a fabulous year of fun and fruitful classes, friendship and many amazing performances all over Sydney, it's time to hang up our dancing shoes for our Summer break. Congratulations to all our students on their achievements and development this year, recognised at our recent presentation and party. And thank you to all our parents for their support. Special thanks to our founder and amazing guide Mary Nassibian, our teachers Christina Efthymiades and Nicole Economos, assisted by Neville Georgiades. Special mention to Mina Pahos for the hours and hours of voluntary sewing at the last minute which totally saved the day and to Kaylene Kritharides for her voluntary sewing assistance as well - so deeply appreciated. It's been a fabulous and memorable year. See you all in February!

07.01.2022 As an Active Kids provider this is great news for our parents and students. Vouchers can be redeemed against class fees. Were also a Creative Kids provider so parents can access a total of $300 worth of vouchers across both programs for each child for dancing lessons. Another reason to say opa! 06.01.2022 GREEK NATIONAL DAY 2021 | What a fabulous day we had at Burwood Council's annual Greek National Day commemoration, this year celebrating 200 years since the start of the Greek Revolution. Students from our intermediate, advanced and adult classes participated - performing in the opening to May the dances never stop" ( !), with the Greek School students of Saint Nectarios Burwood - Sydney, Australia. This joyful song by Dionysis Savvopoulos was chosen as t...he official song for the Greek Revolution's 200th anniversary. It was indeed a most fitting way to commence the event! We continued on throughout the afternoon with traditional and contemporary performances that were well received. There was such a wonderful vibe and demonstrated Hellenic spirit in the air! Thank you to all students and parents for their efforts in the lead up and on the day. And a sincere thank you to Mayor of Burwood, Cr John Faker for this opportunity and his consistent support and positive feedback. It's appreciated!

06.01.2022 JUNIOR GROUP MELTED HEARTS! | The beautiful smiles, stunning costumes and enthusiastic dancing from our most junior students melted hearts at Greek Street Fair Burwood - Sunday 10 November 2019. For many of these students it was their first time on stage and they did a fantastic job - especially considering the huge crowds watching! Most importantly their joy was beaming on their faces. 04.01.2022 KICKING OFF GREEK STREET FAIR BURWOOD 2019! | Our Intermediate students kicked off the stage entertainment at Greek Street Fair Burwood - Sunday 10 November 2019 and performed to a huge crowd. They danced beautifully and looked fantastic. We love being part of this event and have loved supporting all the activities of Saint Nectarios Burwood for the past 40 years, since Mary Nassibian first starting teaching there in 1979 - and also taught since 1987 by Christina Efthymiades. 03.01.2022 TERM 4 IN FULL SWING! | After a successful COVID-Safe Term 3, we're back for Term 4 in full swing at Concord Community Centre. Mondays: Kindy to Year 4 at 6:15pm Year 5 to Year 8 at 7:10pm... Year 9 to uni/work young adults Our Adult class, for fun and fitness is also going strong - Tuesdays at 7:30pm. Join us! Our COVID-Safe plan includes temperature checking and hand sanitising on arrival, cleaning of all high touch points before each class and no holding hands during lessons, allowing a COVID-safe distance between students. Parents also drop off and collect their children outside to minimise interaction. It's been a huge adjustment this year, but so very important to keep everyone safe.

01.01.2022 LAST NIGHT'S PERFORMANCE IN THE PIAZZA | We were so excited to kick off our performance season last night at the Final Summer Session: The Wonders of Greece in The Piazza on Majors Bay Road Concord. Our three segments included students from our advanced, young adult and adult classes and everyone had a ball! We even conducted a dance lesson to get the evening started with young and young at heart learning the Hassaposerviko. Thank you to City of Canada Bay and Majors Bay Chamber of Commerce for the invitation. So glad to come out of COVID-19 hibernation! Now to get ready for our next one! Tomorrow night!
