18.01.2022 Crazy Hair Day is tomorrow!

18.01.2022 We just wanted to let you know about an upcoming live theatre production that Heather and David are involved with. In our spare time recently (over the last 5 months), we have been working with a group of young people aged 7-18 to put on a live musical theatre show with Peoples Playhouse, a non-profit community organisation run by volunteers. David has been directing a musical called 'The Tree of Life' and Heather has been co-production managing. This show was written by Drew... Lane, and this will the its amateur theatre debut. 'The Tree of Life' is a beautiful story about friendship, loyalty and life. It is opening next weekend, with six performances over the school holidays. There has just been a special release on tickets until tomorrow midday, so today is a great day to get tickets. If you are looking for something to do over the holidays with your family, we would love to see you there. Taking our own children to see live theatre when they were young was one of the best things we ever did. See more

17.01.2022 We have lots of exciting times coming up! The Wombats and Kindergarten Children have been having lots of fun practicing for their End of Year Concerts! We are also having our Annual Family Morning Tea at Ballam Park, and look forward to sharing the morning with you. We have also sent an email to all our families with the Holiday Notice form, and ask for these to be returned asap. We also have copies at the office. Only 54 sleeps til Christmas!

17.01.2022 To all our wonderful Families, All next week we are going to learn with the children about some of the unique and wonderful native animals that live across our vast country. In conjunction with that we would like to spend the whole week raising funds to support the amazing carers that put their heart and soul into saving and rehabilitating sick and injured wildlife. The money raised will go to Animalia Wildlife Shelter, a Frankston rescue group completely run by volunteers,... working locally rescuing wildlife and supporting the wider efforts across Victoria as more heat stressed animals are found. Green Cottage ELC will kick off the donations with $500 and on top of that we will match every dollar raised. We would encourage you to give what you can to support this incredible group. We are also mindful of the emotional impact of the current bush fire season and so our week with the children will be focussed on appreciating our Australian wildlife and wilderness, rather than the devastation. 16.01.2022 Red Nose Day! Friday 9th August We will be hosting our 'Little Rockers Red Nose Disco' at 10am and having lots of fun RED activities on the day. Come dressed in RED or your favourite dancing clothes ready for lots of fun! The Little Rockers Red Nose Disco is a fun filled disco event where children can dance, have fun and dress up for a great cause! Donations to support this cause can be made on the day

16.01.2022 PIRATE DAY!... On Friday the 25th October, we are having our Annual Pirate Day, which is held in support of Canteen's Bandanna Day, supporting young people with cancer. Come dressed as a Pirate ready to have lots of extra fun on the day! We will be selling bandannas ($5 each) from Canteen during the week. They have some great new designs to choose from! 13.01.2022 To all our Families Just wanting to let you know a fire close by meant we evacuated the Centre this afternoon. All Children and Educators are safe and all children are picked up. We are extremely proud of our Educators for getting all the children evacuated safely. Thank you to all the Emergency Services and the local residents for their help, water, icy poles and care. Thankfully the Centre is fine and we will give another update later.

These will be passed on to Mums Supporting Families in Need Inc, allowing them to assist local disadvantaged families.

09.01.2022 BOOK CHARACTER DAY! Monday 19th August is Book Character Day! As part of National Book Week, come and celebrate reading! Come dressed as a character from your favourinte book ready to have lots of fun!

09.01.2022 Pyjama Week!... We had planned on next Wednesday being Pyjama Day, but in the spirit of the ‘lockdown’, and to put a bit of fun in it, we have decided to make it Pyjama Week! The children are more than welcome to attend each day next week in pyjamas and bring their teddy too! We will have lots of fun, make some teddy bear pictures to display on our fence, and maybe even have a movie and popcorn! Stay safe and see you in your pyjamas next week!

Aarons Outdoors have done amazing work to bring to life all our ideas and create such a wonderful space for everyone to enjoy!! Bring on some warm sunny days!!!

08.01.2022 Christmas Toy Drive This year we are hosting a Wishing Tree for an amazing local charity that assists local disadvantaged families, Mums Supporting Families in Need Inc. Feel free to make a donation of an unwrapped gift at our tree in the foyer for their Christmas Toy Drive (by Wed 18th Dec). We also have lots of ideas up of gifts that can be purchased for under $10. (Please note: For this drive, gifts need to be in the original packaging and unwrapped.)

They will be coming over 2 mornings, and will take individual and group photos. They will provide a proof sheet after processing them, and there is no obligation to purchase any. 04.01.2022 To all our wonderful Green Cottage community of families, Thank you for all your well wishes and support over the weekend. We are open as normal this morning with no damage or ill effects from the fire to the Centre. It was obviously an extreme event on Friday that resulted in us evacuating the Centre. So many strange and unusual stories tend to circulate after an event like this, some completely wrong and others slightly exaggerated. We can only let all our families know... we had a strong plan in place and we made the decision to leave the Centre well before the fire, or smoke got anywhere near Green Cottage. All the children in our care and the Educators left the Centre in a calm, organised manner. We reached a safe location on the opposite side of the highway and from there we watched the emergency services arrive as the fire took off and spread through the reserve. Thank you also to the many residents and Community who offered support, allowed us to use their front yard, and for those that provided extra water and icypoles. We are so proud of our Educators for having a complete focus on the safety and wellbeing of the children throughout the afternoon. Finally, we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a wonderful and safe New Year. See more
