21.01.2022 Make sure your guinea pig is getting enough vitamin-C. Guinea pigs are one of the very few mammals (along with humans) who can't make their own vitamin C, so they need to get it from their food. They need 10 - 30 MG of Vitamin C daily.[4] Vegetables that are high in vitamin-C, and that are good for your guinea pig, include dark, leafy greens, bell peppers, broccoli, and cauliflower. Guinea Pigs are highly prone to getting scurvy, which is a disease caused by low levels of Vitamin C. You can supplement your guinea pig's vitamin-c intake Putting vitamin-c into your guinea pig's water is not recommended. Adding vitamin C to the water can cause a guinea pig to stop drinking water if they don't like the taste. In addition, it's hard to control how much vitamin C your guinea pig is getting, as they may drink a little or a lot of water.

08.01.2022 As a pet owner, your biggest goal should be to maintain the health and happiness of your pet. One of the main ways you can do this is to feed it a balanced and healthy diet. Guinea pigs, like all other pets, require specific nutrients for them to thrive. If you take the time to make sure your guinea pig is fed a healthy diet, it will go a long way towards assuring that they have a happy and healthy life.

07.01.2022 Avoid certain foods. There are a number of foods you will want to avoid when formulating your guinea pig food or feeding him or her treats. Some foods are extremely dangerous to guinea pigs and are poisonous and toxic. If you feed them to your friend, he or she could die or at the very least become seriously ill. Make sure to avoid: Iceberg lettuce or cabbage. Iceberg lettuce and cabbage have minimal nutritional value and can give your friend diarrhea. Potato peelings. Potato... peelings can be toxic if they’ve begun to turn green. Rhubarb. Rhubarb leaves are poisonous. Meat and dairy. Guinea pigs’ digestive tracts do not process meat or dairy very well. Apple seeds. Very toxic See more

05.01.2022 Here’s a tip for when purchasing a guinea pig. The short hairs guinea pig for e.g.Short coat guinea pigs arnt a breed they are a group the different colours in short hairs are breeds. Each colour has its own breed standard. So when a registered breeder has a pet for sale 99% of the time it’s a pure bred animal that’s perfectly healthy but in some way may not be perfect for showing but will be prefect as a pet. When comparing animals to the show standard there a show faults fo...r e.g. ears might sit to high above eye not may not be exact same height or the desired shape, face may be too narrow or too blunt. Eyes may be too small, near the belly button the hair can grow in a small line or stitch from the abitical cord that’s a fault the hair may be too long even for a short coat the shortest coat is desired. It may feel too thin. The colour for e.g even white may be off white or too light that’s a fault. there’s a lot of factors. so all of these babies are sold as pets. So pets arnt cross bred from mixed breeds or colours. So when purchasing a pet my advice is to contact a reputable breeder where your new furry friend will be from strong pure bred lines and good stock. In-experienced breeding is not recommended. 03.01.2022 good morning all, A question I have been asked a lot about lately is what do i need to start a home for my new piggy. Guinea pigs dont really need that much, a home to sleep in, a continuous supply of veges grass and hay and pellets. They love to hide so a little box they can hide in as well. Depending also if your piggy is inside or out.... Outside piggies neeed protection from the sun, any stray animals that may visit your yard unannounced and birds. Yes birds, believe it or not these little guys can be poached by birds. Bunnings sell guinea pig cages from $60 upwards, so far they have been the cheepest in town. any questions feel free to msg me or organise a time to come and see what these little creatures are all about.
