15.01.2022 In line with the Government direction below the shed will be closed until further notice. Federal Government has issued advice that all Mens Sheds MUST close a...s at 11.59pm today (Wed 25 March 2020). We are advised that sheds fall within the Community and Recreation Centres restricted premises category. Please read the directive from the Prime Minister for further information: www.pm.gov.au/med/update-coronavirus-measures-24-March-2020 We dont know how long this closure will go on, so perhaps consider the following: Security: ensure your Shed is locked up and as many tools and materials are stored safely. You may consider off-siting any items that are expensive/attractive to thieves e.g. take to member's homes/ other secure premises. Fire prevention: Lock away your wheelie bins (preferably inside the shed). Make sure that no pallets or flammable materials are stored against the Shed. Social Media: Dont place any closed notices on open Social Media channels or your Shed door We dont want to advertise an opportunity for thieves. Mail: cancel or redirect any deliveries or mail Water: ensure the water is switched off (unless it is supplying a sprinkler system) Checking in: If safe and legal to do so, have someone check on the shed occasionally. More than ever before we need to be able to keep the shed spirit alive so make sure you have the contact information for all of your shedders: Implement some kind of phone tree or buddy system. (If you dont know how to do this, please get in touch and we will help). Encourage members to join our Facebook community page https://www.facebook.com/groups/mensshedswa/. This is a new page and we already have over 100 members from different sheds across WA. This is not the only means of communication from our office but its a great way of sheds and shedders to chat and catch up during this time. As for our office, we are all working remotely but we are still working hard to support you. It's a great time to get in touch with us and say hi. Please note: In addition to the shed closures we have postponed this round of zone meetings. The best defence against this virus is to simply stay inside, shelter in place and do everything to prevent exposure. Stay safe & well and in the spirit of Mens Sheds, lets work hard to look after one another. Thanks for your support, Kind regards James James Wild Chief Executive Officer Mens Sheds of WA
