25.01.2022 Tasmania’s borders are reopening and so we need to be reminded to be vigilant regarding distancing and sanitising. I plan to continue seeing my regular massage clients for now but will not be taking in any new clients or walk ins for the next couple of months until we see how this pans out. If you have an appointment in the coming weeks but feel unwell pls postpone. If you have been asked to isolate pls postpone. We have been very fortunate since June to go about our business as usual but now is the time to be cautious once more. Best wishes Rhoda

17.01.2022 Have you tried Bowen Therapy before? Elisabeth Cannell is available at Green Health on Mondays by prior appointment. Text or ring 0467273162 to book your appointment. Bowen Therapy Information... Bowen Therapy is a remedial bodywork technique that empowers the body’s own healing resources to achieve balance, resulting in fast and lasting relief from pain and discomfort. Bowen is safe to use on any person, from newborns to the elderly, with positive responses to sports injuries acute or chronic and organic complaints. Bowen moves are applied to areas that correlate closely with much of the latest research into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) meridian systems, acu-points and myofascial trigger point theories. It is a system of manually applied myofascial stimulation to the body, carried out either singularly or sequentially, within strategically placed locations, and allowing some designated resting periods. A basic, ‘Bowen’ move, is a transverse soft tissue maneuver. These specific moves are applied at point locations over muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia, bringing about a window of opportunity to promote homeostasis of the body tissues and systems. Bowen draws the body’s attention to itself via the sympathetic nervous system, and by doing so, promotes healing. Example. Take the everyday scenario where a person might burn themselves on the hot plate of a stove. They snatch their hand back in shock. (!!!!) A second or two passes. The pain starts and builds, and a blister quickly begins to form. It takes a second or two for the sympathetic nervous system to deliver news of the damage to the brain and the brain to respond sending lymphocytes and instructions to create a blister in an attempt to put the cooking of the burn out. This is the message feedback system the body uses in response to the stimulation caused by a Bowen move. A Bowen Appointment differs for many reasons: There is the comprehensive client assessment process that gives an accurate evaluation of the client’s problems. Considerable time has been spent trialing Bowen Therapy in clinical practice, this has allowed for development of an extensive range of Bowen Moves/Procedures to address a wider than normal range of musculo/skeletal related problems. Clients are treated through clothing, without detracting from the Bowen technique this provides comfort and modesty for many people who would not otherwise seek treatment due to the necessity to remove clothing.

12.01.2022 Being a teenager isn’t easy, particularly in a world where the people who don’t like you have access to you even after you go home. But your worth isn’t based on what the others think of you! You are worthwhile because you are you!
