25.01.2022 This is an example of what third world countries are doing using Vetiver Grass to stabilise eroded slopes, in this case on a critical main road. Brilliant tenacity and ingenuity!

23.01.2022 Many of us have finally received lots of welcome rain. Some falling in torrential amounts (certainly has here at Moolboolaman, near Gin Gin!) which has the potential to cause landslip, soil erosion, dams breaking etc. here are some before and after photos of using Vetiver for stabilising dams, taken at our property. Before getting Vetiver Grass established, overflow area breaks away, with potential of taking that side of the dam wall out completely and losing all the water. A...fter Vetiver Grass planted along with supporting infrastructure, dam walls and spillway hold fast. Cheapest and most environmentally safe and sustainable solution available! A photo also of a floating pontoon filled with Vetiver, which will help filter out contaminants in our main dam from land run off. We need to also be encouraging everyone and those in charge preserving our soils, water and oceans to be planting Vetiver Grass around our waterways, as the land runoff of contaminants, most recently from the big bushfires is upsetting the equilibrium to our sea life. Vetiver grass and its deep dense roots are the perfect filter! Contact us and get your order of Vetiver Grass in now!! See more

23.01.2022 We simply our Vetiver Hedge. Our poor Coffee Arabica plants were suffering with heat, especially the radiating heat from the retaining wall. Our solution....VETIVER! Fast growing, ... Drought tolerant, Roots that go straight down (so not disturbing the retaining wall footings), Retains important minerals in the soil for good plant growth, and Provides much needed insulation/cooling for our precious plants. Our coffee plants have doubled in size in only 3 months and that's even in this crazy hot, dry weather we have been having. The Vetiver is thriving too and has made a beautiful hedge backdrop. It's also easy to maintain - a 10 minute job and the hedge is looking great. Get your hedge growing now. Order your vetiver online at https://www.gavg.com.au/shop

20.01.2022 We have had a big response to the photos of the Vetiver pontoon. A number of requests wanting to purchase or information on materials used to build one. Well hold on to your hats folks! Greg is now in the process of putting together a "How to build your own Vetiver Grass Pontoon" instructions. Materials not a big expense at all. Vetiver which we sell as bare rooted "slips" with new root growth are $4 each postage inclusive. Watch this space! EDIT: Fabrication Instructions Now Available via our website - www.gavg.com.au

19.01.2022 With the welcome rainfall here last night, (14 mls), kicking off our storm season leading into the wet season, we strongly encourage everyone as part of future storm and flood mitigation around your properties to get some Vetiver Grass planted! Along with much of Australia, we are also experiencing drought conditions here, having received less than half our usual rainfall for the year. Greenacres is not looking so green at the moment!! One thing we have noticed is that where ...we have planted Vetiver Grass along our drive from the front gate to the house, the paddock on the down side from where Vetiver is planted, has held its green tinge much longer than elsewhere. This is a perfect example of Vetiver Systems slowing down the flow of groundwater and holding it longer than it usually would! First step to drought proofing a paddock! The photos attached are straight from my phone camera taken this morning. We are hoping in a couple of days a little more green will be evident in all 100 acres of our property! .. See more

13.01.2022 a 10 minute job!

13.01.2022 Vetiver dam stabilisation. If you are interested in using Vetiver for erosion control or land stabilisation please get in touch with Pat or Greg via their FB page

13.01.2022 We love seeing our local community embrace the power of Vetiver! Good on you High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm for being so innovative and forward thinking.

12.01.2022 With a long dry spell hopefully about to break we are making the most of our planted Vetiver around our main dam and are making it much bigger to give us water security. Check out the video of how we have used Vetiver Grass for dam stabilisation!

11.01.2022 Use Vetiver Grass as an attractive and useful hedge.. This was planted in our house garden from small slips 8 mths ago. In full flower and needing some pruning as it was blocking views of some of the garden we first cut the flowers off, which make an attractive large bunch, then easliy pruned back the remainder with a petrol driven hedger. The pruned blades of grass will he recycled into garden mulch. The last photo is one of our crops of Vetiver ready for sale!

10.01.2022 Big weekend of planting new Vetiver Grass slips. Even the younger members joined in to help.

09.01.2022 With many areas finally getting some welcome rain, now is the ideal time temperature and moisture wise to plant out some Vetiver Grass. Whether it be for the home garden for creating lovely hedges or a repellent barrier to snakes, rodents and termites, or for bigger projects like stabilising slopes, dams, or bioremediating contaminated soils and water ways, we have the product and advice on what and how to do it. Contact Greg on 0409120713 or Pat 0409902500, or arrange to visit us at 634 Duckpond Road Moolboolaman Qld (near Gin Gin). Doing our bit using an environmentally safe and sustainable system to revitalise soils and water!

08.01.2022 Preparation of Vetiver slips ready for upcoming projects and orders.

08.01.2022 We have created a small hedge in our garden on the farm using Vetiver Grass. Looks effective and is drought tolerant. The initial planting of slips was four months ago, and we now have healthy clumps that can be trimmed back if desired as shown in the photographs.

07.01.2022 We continue to promote this very under utilised tool and plant system for bioengineering of soils and waterway. With a forecasted big wet season upon us, we are waiting for the fallout of problems with eroded dams, coastlines, and land areas...If only they used Vetiver Grass as part of their plan to mitigate damage!

07.01.2022 Everyone loves a good before and after. This is the Greenacres Vetiver driveway, taken 1 month apart, after 4 inches of rain. It's greening up at Greenacres!

05.01.2022 The Vetiver Grass pontoon in our main dam is proving to be an amazing asset! Not only is it purifying the water, it provides sanctuary for water birds to nest and raise their babies, including moor hens, and whistling ducks. Greg, the main man in our Vetiver Grass enterprise built this pontoon himself. The photos show it from its beginning 7 months ago to the gorgeous environmental asset we now have. Note in the latter photos, the Vetiver growing on the banks of the dam, stabilising the walls and what used to be problematic during times of heavy rain and flash flooding with wash aways and now holding all that precious water.

05.01.2022 We are excited to launch our new website - Open for orders, large and small so check it out. http://gavg.com.au
