The service originally commenced in Bendigo in May 2009 and expanded to take in the Mount Alexander Shire in August 2012. Greenaway Bins are proud to be celebrating their eighth anniversary servicing the district next month. "We kicked off in Castlemaine and now service Harcourt, Barkers Creek, Chewton, Campbells Creek, Guildford, McKenzie Hill, Newstead and Maldon," Anthony said. Currently Greenaway Bins collect approximately seven tonnes of green waste per week from the Mount Alexander Shire, and a further seven tonnes per week across Bendigo. "Anything that grows in your garden can be placed in our bin. Lawn clippings, prunings - up to 50 mm in thickness, leaves, weeds, bark, eucalyptus debris, cactus, blackberries, straw, rose cuttings and palm leaves," Anthony said. "All waste that is collected by Greenaway Bins is delivered to Epsom Environmental Services - located on the outskirts of Bendigo. The green waste then continues along on its recycling journey. Ultimately ending up as compost and then sold back to the public," Wayne said.
