24.01.2022 Customer complaint of large amounts of black smoke coming out of exhaust, and loss of power from their Mazda BT50! On inspection and testing Found lower Core of Turbo Intercooler had split, and under heavy acceleration was separating loosing pressure and caused a flow on effect with excess fuel burning straight out the exhaust.

24.01.2022 Hi all, Just a note to let you all know We are open for business on both Show holidays this Monday 11th Aug, and Wednesday 13th Aug. Also a reminder that our $119 service special ends 30th Aug as per our flyer. Thank you Shane and Katherine

22.01.2022 Vehicle was presented with an engine shudder/missing and Engine Malfunction Light present! On inspection found evidence of Vermin droppings and that it had chewed through the wiring that supplies the spark to the Ignition Coils as shown. This is a late model, well maintained and looked after Vehicle.... Rats love an environment that is warm and dark, and under a bonnet is a great haven. They love to knaw through plastics and wiring. Rats and other Vermin are also drawn naturally to poultry and living on acerage they are present somewhere despite how clean our properties are. A light spray of peppermint under the bonnet every few months may keep them away from destroying the electrics on your Ride.

22.01.2022 It is amazing, that despite how clean we can try to keep our cars, the amount of dirt and dust that lurks around inside that we cannot see! The pic below shows old vs New Cabin Filter that filters your A/C. The amount of bacteria, and dirt/dust particles is evident. Most modern cars have these Filters and are usually located in behind your vehicles glove box. Not something you get to see everyday, so I thought I would post one up to show how much work these little filters do.

22.01.2022 Ever looked at your cars battery and wondered how do I know how much life it has left? Every service, big or small, I Perform a Battery test at every service interval. This test provides simple imformation in colour so you may have early warning prior to your car battery failing. The concept is to not wait until you go to start your car and find out the battery has died. This is a piece of mind test at no cost as it is part of the service from a Local Mechanic that comes to you.

21.01.2022 The below pics show the importance of regular servicing late model vehicles. The use of the correct oil and changes in accordance with service intervals will avoid this example. Engine Oil does much more than just lubricate the working parts! It also has a role assisting in the of cooling the engine.... This particular engine was regularly run low on engine and I suspect excessive heat played a role in chipping one Engine Valve and burning out other Valves.

20.01.2022 Recently I was fortunate to work on a regularly seviced late model 4wd. I was called out to check on the brakes and this is what I discovered. If your car is regularly serviced, you should be made aware of approx remaining life of brake pads so you do not get surprised like this! The more the brake pad wears, the more heat is generated. The more heat, means more brake fade, which leads to more wear and increased distance to stop.... Old Brake pad vs New Brake pad. The old pad has worn past the material down to the metal backing.

20.01.2022 Another piece of Australian History to work on. Love these Cars!

20.01.2022 Hi All, I thought i would share the recent job I have completed on a VE V6 Commodore. This job entailed a fair bit of work, as the Cylinder Head Gasket failed on one side causing the vehicle to overheat.... The Timing Chains often stretch on these models deeming a costly exercise which is often unavoidable, and out of the Owners hands. On this occasion, the Owners have take very good care of this vehicle, and serviced it correctly since taken ownership. On further inspection when pulling down the engine components, there was evidence of Sludge build up which is often as a result from extending Engine Oil beyond its Service life, or poor Oil quality used. When it comes to owning a late model vehicle, if all you can afford is the basics.... please ensure the Engine Oil, and Oil filter is performed on time!. The modern engine does not respond well to Sludge build up and can often be costly when considering the Sensors that can trigger Engine Malfunction lights.

20.01.2022 Is your Car under Salary Sacrifice? Is it it with RemServ, or Maxxia? Yes, We can service your car and bill them direct without you being out of pocket!

18.01.2022 One of the biggest killers of an Electric Fuel Pump is running low fuel level! Below is a picture of a common late model Electric Fuel Pump. Whilst it is amazing how small they are in size, it's amazing how much work these little pumps do to keep us on the road!... Fuel plays an important role of not only part of the combustion process, Fuel also lubricates and cools the fuel Pump! When the vehicle corners, combined with low fuel level, the fuel pump inside the tank can become exposed allowing heat to generate and potentially cause the pump to fail.

13.01.2022 Before and after results on a late model Triton I worked on a while back, and finally had time to post. The vehicle lacked power and went into limp mode with no prior warning. Carbon and soot is a by product of late model diesel vehicles, and the following pics represent a 4wd that was well maintained, used the best quality Engine Oil, and when something required replacement, the customer had it fixed. Yet this still happened.... EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation ) and the intake Manifold blockage.

13.01.2022 Hi all, When was the last time you had your Auto Transmission fluid checked/replaced? A few weeks ago I was fortunate to work on a Customers Late model famiy dual cab that has alway been well maintained. The pictures show that despite the level of vehicle maintenance, the Auto Fluid had been burnt through normal operation and required a transmission flush to salvage some further use.... If your vehicle does tow, it is recommend to change your Auto fluid more frequently, or better to fit a Transmission cooler that will prolong the life of the transmission. Transmission fluid does often get overlooked and can lead to expensive repairs or replacement. I have also included a list with expected Auto Transmission life expectancies after fluid reaching specific temperatures. Temperature Life expectancy 80deg 180000 klm 90deg 90000klm 100deg 45005klm 130deg 5000klm The pics below indicate contaminated fluid versus clean fluid. The Dark coloured fluid indicates transmission has run very hot, and required flushing to return to New Clean fluid.

11.01.2022 Today I was lucky enough to help out a young family with their Hybrid car!!! LOL!!! The problem was relating to power being transferred to one of the rear wheels, not two, reducing power by half! After the pull down of the rear axle, it was discovered that the wiring was the issue to the passenger side axle. ... After the repair, power returned to both rear wheels and now the young boy's car should be back to its original glory of a total rear wheel drive.

04.01.2022 As an extra to our existing services that we currently offer, we now also can repair most windscreen chips. If caught early enough, before it progresses into a cracked windscreen, we can often repair the chip, at a fraction of the cost, of a full windscreen replacement.

04.01.2022 When maintaining our vehicles, one of the common areas overlooked is Brake and Clutch Fluids! One of the properties of Brake/Clutch Fluid is to absorb Moisture. The problem is, overtime the Fluid does Break down, and can potentially lead to Brake/Clutch Hydraulic Failure!... Following is a Clutch Master Cylinder, and a Clutch Slave Cylinder removed from a vehicle that had lost the ability to change gears, leaving the clutch pedal sinking to the floor. The photos below show a build up of sludge in the Cylinders which caused the failure of these components. The fluid should clean, be free of debris, and sludge. Brake/Clutch colours can change between brands.

04.01.2022 Good Morning Everyone, Greenbank Mechanical will be closing for Christmas starting Wednesday 23/12/15 and recommencing in the New Year on Monday 4/1/16.
