19.01.2022 Speaker Feature: Romney Bishop, Senior Policy Officer, Dept. of Land, Water and Planning: The Victorian Residential Efficiency Scorecard is a unique program that provides an energy star rating for existing houses. In the same way that a fridge or washing machine has a star rating, a Scorecard rating shows how much energy is used by different parts of the house.... The Scorecard star rating program is the first of its kind in Australia. Assessments are tailored specifically for each house and are delivered by government-approved assessors. The Scorecard can be used by householders to reduce energy bills or improve their home’s thermal comfort, or to guide renovations. Community housing organisations or landlords may use the tool to improve conditions for renters. The program has recently expanded to include delivery by commercial businesses across Victoria and the Department is currently working with other states to determine whether it could also be used in those jurisdictions. https://www.victorianenergysaver.vic.gov.au/scorecard Romney worked in finance and administration management for 25 years before moving into the sustainability field in 2009. Romney has had her own sustainability consulting business for nine years and, until recently, was Senior Sustainability Officer at Nillumbik Shire Council. She joined DELWP to help deliver the Victorian Residential Efficiency Scorecard late last year after working with the team on a pilot and throughout the stakeholder engagement phase of the project. Romney is passionate about helping households to achieve a smaller impact on the environment as well as achieving more comfortable homes that are affordable to run. Romney has a B.Business (Accounting), Cert IV NatHERS Assessment and Cert IV Home Sustainability Assessment.
