24.01.2022 Gold accreditation! We have been working very hard as a team to get certified as a cat friendly clinic and we have done it! We wanted to better the clinic for your cats so that it would be less stressful for them. We are now 1 of only 2 vet clinics in the Illawarra who are accredited.

23.01.2022 Being a mother is one of life’s greatest achievements, and we passionately believe that being a vet is the next greatest! In honour of Mother’s Day tomorrow, some of the best new mums and vets tell us what it’s like to navigate the two. Dr. Jessica (Regional Clinical Director and Hugo's Mum) - ... "I think being a vet has helped prepare me for motherhood - late nights, no lunch breaks, being pooped on, and being constantly stressed about what they just put in their mouth! I’m so lucky to have been able to experience both." Dr. Ashlinn (Vet Director & Amelia's Mum) - "I love it! [motherhood] It’s better than I had imagined. Everyday there is a new surprise, a new development, an exciting milestone or a new challenge. Dr. Patricia (Emergency & Critical Care Specialist Animal Referral Hospital & Scarlett's Mum plus pregnant with twins.) "I would have to say being a vet is harder. [than being a mum] I may, however, feel differently when I have three teenage daughters!

23.01.2022 Betty came in for her spay on Friday. Betty is 15 months old which is older than we often desex pets. We often recommend early desexing as it reduced the risk of mammary cancer, and when dogs are young their uterus is smaller meaning a slightly shorter anaesthetic for your pet. However, we sometimes recommend a later desexing for certain behavioural reasons or in large breed dogs, or if the owner wants a litter first! Later desexing is still really beneficial as it eliminates the risk of pyometra a nasty uterine infection. Betty is recovering well from her procedure and will see us shortly for her 5 day post operative check.

22.01.2022 Meet Bailey Bailey came to us today as some what of an emergency. Her mom noticed she had swelling around her mouth and gums were slightly more red than usually. Bailey has eaten bees before so her mom knew to call us & bring her straight down to the clinic. We were able to extract the bee stinger that was still stuck on the inside of her gum & gave her an injection of an anti-histamine. Luckily for Bailey this was just a mild reaction. More severe reactions can result in hives, swelling of the entire face or location stung, swelling of throat which can result in respiratory distress.
