25.01.2022 Green Head power outage 10am today. Telstra service is of course out as well. After at least 3years of emails, phone conversations to Telstra, Shane Loves office, Coorow Shire Council, Melissa Prices office, ABC News the problem is still there. How frightening is it TODAY especially, for disabled people and people living alone not to be able to phone family or for help.

21.01.2022 SOCIALLY DISTANCED HIGH-FIVES ALL ROUND! There are no longer any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in regional WA. There are just two cases of coronavirus left in ...WA both are recovering at home in Perth. How should we celebrate?

20.01.2022 #QUESTION: What do you think of this measure from the state government? Is it enough to help local sporting clubs survive COVID-19? #BREAKING: Community sports... clubs in WA will be able to apply for funding to assist with COVID-19 recovery after the State government announced plans to fast-track its $12 million community sport grants fund. The grants are available for local, not-for-profit sport, recreation or community groups and local governments to help them build basic, sustainable infrastructure to increase participation in sport. Examples of projects that will be considered include new playing surfaces, floodlighting, upgrades to change rooms and ablutions and improvements to clubrooms. Premier Mark McGowan said the decision to fast-track the next round of funding would see these projects get off the ground much faster. Community sport is a vital part of the social fabric of many local communities, "he said. "As COVID-19 restrictions continue to be eased in a phased process, we want to make sure these organisations have a high standard of facilities, while supporting the States economy. "My Government is focused on the use of local contractors to complete these projects where possible, including the use of Aboriginal-owned businesses where possible."

20.01.2022 These keys have lost their person. They are very upset and distressed. So, if you see a person who is without their keys, they may belong to this set. We will ...be looking after them at the IGA until their person comes to collect them. (proof of purchase for the keychains required to claim the keys) Seriously though, these must be from a local. Someone must really be missing them.

07.01.2022 CAMPGROUNDS REOPENING TOMORROW! The State Government has announced camping in local national parks, reserves and State forests will be allowed from midday tomor...row (May 1). However, the intrastate travel restrictions remain in place which means people will only be able to visit and camp within their regional boundaries. The change applies to most of the 268 campgrounds managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and includes camping in huts along the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trail. People can book online via DBCAs online campground booking system from midday Friday. Non-bookable campgrounds will continue to operate on a first-come, first-served basis. DBCA will work closely with WA Police to ensure a successful and safe reintroduction to camping in national parks. For further information and to make a booking, visit exploreparks.dbca.wa.gov.au Environment Minister Stephen Dawson said: Allowing Western Australians to camp in their local national parks and reserves is a positive step forward and a reflection of the good behaviour shown by the community during the State of Emergency," he said We could all do with a change of scene. I would like to remind campers that they need to ensure they are self-sufficient and able to maintain good personal hygiene by carrying their own handwashing equipment and materials. As people enjoy visiting and camping in their local national parks, I encourage them to be vigilant and to continue to practice social distancing.

05.01.2022 Warning of Beach Dangers for your furry friend We were holidaying in Albany last week and took our 10 month old cavoodle Smudgy for a walk on Goode Beach near t...he Whaling Stationat 11.30am on 2 June a lovely sunny day. Smudgy was on a lead and we walked about 300 m along the beach from the main beach car park. There were several small groups of people with dogs on the beach playing on the sand and in the water. Smudgy ran around on the sand dug a shallow hole and played in shallow water. The beach was clean clear with lots of sand no seaweed nothing in sight just sand. As we were walking back to the car park Smudgy wanted to sit down and appeared to be favouring her rear right leg. Soon after she started to stagger so we picked her up and headed quickly to the car so we could get vet assistance for her. On the way to the car she vomited and gradually went limp. We think she was unconscious by the time we reached the car and as we were travelling back to Albany her body was shaking and she frothed at the mouth. We were about 5 minutes from Albany when all movement stopped and she passed away. The vet in Albany confirmed her passing when we arrived at the Vet Hospital. The time from noticing her first symptoms to her passing was about 15 minutes. The vet said that he had not seen a dog pass so quickly from picking up/contacting something on the beach. He said Smudgys death may have been caused by contact with a blue ringed octopus, sea hare or green sea cucumber. Due to high tides and recent storms the sea animals may have been washed up on the beach. The untimely death of 10 month old Smudgy has caused much grief to my wife Caroline and I and we wish to warn other dog lovers to either avoid or be very careful when taking your furry friend on the beach. From comments we have received people have lost the dogs or had very sick dogs from Kalbarri to Albany. We have spread the story through various Facebook sites and local newspapers in Albany as well as talking to people with dogs as we do our daily walks. Please look after your furry friends and pass this warning on to all your friends with dogs.

02.01.2022 SHATTERED The owners of the Eneabba Roadhouse on Brand Highway say they may be forced to close their doors in coming weeks due to a 70 per cent drop in busi...ness caused by the coronavirus travel restrictions. While the Wheatbelt, South West, Peel and Great Southern will reopen borders to the metropolitan area today, the Midwest is at least another three weeks away. Owner Deanna Ashley says cooking for farm workers during seeding has helped keep their head above water but thats due to end in the next week or so and its likely shell have to put off her last remaining staff member. She says she was shattered when the Premier announced the reopening of other regions, and not the Midwest, from today. "The boundaries not being open will really kill us," she said. "To keep going like this...is just diabolical and I cant see that well be able to keep operating much longer."
