24.01.2022 We love fishing and our friends over at Cape York Experience know all the best spots

22.01.2022 Can you believe our amazingly talented friends over at The Temple created this beautiful outdoor shower space all by themselves?! Not only do these guys have a cracking view out to the Great Barrier Reef but every part of their accommodation is full of WW2 history or quirky little design aspects. Great job guys!

22.01.2022 First, we brought you "wheelbarrow swimming pool" - now say hello to "mud hole swimming pool" You can't say we don't treat our guests to the very best facilities

18.01.2022 Don't forget, you can even experience the convenience of a takeaway dinner when you stay at The Greenhoose. Thanks to Greenhoose Cafe - Lockhart River, homemade pizzas, crunchy hot chips, greasy burgers and delicious chef-prepared specials are all available in the middle of the rainforest! Currently open Thursday, Friday & Saturday 5pm to 8pm....... watch this space for possible extended opening hours!

18.01.2022 Can you spot the turtles?! I'm not the best videographer but it was amazing to see just how many there are around us. much easier to spot them from the air!!

18.01.2022 Enjoying a little bit of time admiring the horses in Lockhart River

17.01.2022 Enjoying the view from our beach shack over at Portland Roads.....get in touch to book a stay at our 2 bed beachfront house. It’s the perfect base for a fishing trip or exploring the local area.

17.01.2022 When you forget the quad bike and have to walk home instead.....

14.01.2022 This is Luke when he's not enjoying a spot of diving and spearfishing, he's our maintenance and building guru. If we're building or renovating something (which we pretty much always are!) chances are that Luke is leading the charge. Whether he's building new decks, installing new ensuites, planning the next building project or just fixing a ceiling fan for us - we couldn't do it without him! He's an elusive fella who we don't get many photos of, he can't sit still for more th...an 2 seconds and he's the other half of our beautiful receptionist Jane. Thanks for all the hard work mate - now get back to work!

13.01.2022 Another peaceful morning at the Greenhoose and with the grass looking much greener thanks to the small rain showers we’ve been having!!

13.01.2022 A HUGE happy birthday to the man who started it all - Mr Stu Layton (Vovo to the grandkids). Have an amazing day celebrating your birthday today, The Greenhoose wouldn't be here without all of your hard work and we'd be lost without you. We love ya! Husband, father, in law, grandparent, friend, legend!!

12.01.2022 A beautiful close up photograph of the amazing Hercules Moth. These guys aren't hanging around anymore but we managed to snap this photo while they were still in abundance. Check out those incredible feather like antennae.

10.01.2022 An exciting 30 seconds, followed by one big pull and then that horrible feeling of no resistance as you're winding your line in. Is there anything worse?! Luckily, trout wings on the BBQ is one of our favourite dinners! Thanks sharky - sharing is caring

10.01.2022 Cape York is even more beautiful from the air. Green and blue - our two favourite colours!!

10.01.2022 Don't forget we have an onsite cafe serving delicious burgers, seafood, homemade pizzas and chef prepared specials. It's a little bit of city convenience in the middle of the Cape york rainforest!

09.01.2022 The rain is creeping closer and our gardens are VERY happy about it :)

08.01.2022 The Greenhoose is going green! In an effort to be a little more eco friendly and cost effective we are embracing renewable energy and have finally installed solar panels to many of our larger buildings! Another great wet season project by the amazing team of guys we have at the minute.

07.01.2022 Our onsite cafe is open every night this week

07.01.2022 Archer River is making it a wee bit difficult to explore the Cape by car right now - there is a road under there somewhere I promise! Luckily Skytrans fly from Cairns to Lockhart River once per day Monday to Friday. So, you can still experience the cape at what we like to think is the best time of year :)

06.01.2022 Take a drive into the community of Lockhart River or over to Quintel Beach and there is a high chance you'll see one of the beautiful horses that call the area home

04.01.2022 Don't forget to check out the new visitors center at Lakeland!

04.01.2022 Stop by the Greenhoose cafe one evening and you might be lucky enough to bump into one of these lovely ladies! Chef Jeanie prepares home cooked meals, freshly made pizzas and deliciously greasy burgers and Ash will serve you with a smile......and maybe even a song if you ask nicely. We can’t wait to welcome you!

04.01.2022 On your trip up to Lockhart, don't forget to stop in at Hann River Roadhouse and meet the famous Aussie the emu!!

02.01.2022 Just another beautiful Cape York evening by the campfire! Come join us for an evening under the stars!

01.01.2022 This is the tiny township of Portland Roads. It's about a 30 minute drive from the Greenhoose and it's where you'll find our beach house "The Bluehoose". The area is an amazing spot to launch your boat for a day out fishing the reef. It's also just a 5 minute drive from the iconic Chilli Beach or to use as a base for wildlife spotting trips!
