25.01.2022 Robotic Hand Sanitisers! During weeks 1-5 of this term, students learning at school in Years 3-6 were given the challenge of creating a robotic hand sanitiser using the Lego EV3 Robotics Kits. This is the result. Collaboration, teamwork, communication, and innovation in action!

25.01.2022 It was recently announced that we are a finalist in the P&Cs Qld, P&C of the Year Awards. This is a fantastic recognition of the continuous hard work that our P&C and community members put into fundraising to support our school and to provide ALL resources to students as well as subsidise camps, excursions and so much more. This Friday, some representatives from our P&C will head to Brisbane for the awards evening and regardless of the result, it is fantastic recognition to be a finalist. Here is the video Mr Low made as part of the submission.

25.01.2022 We did it! Congratulations to our P&C for winning the band 6/7 P&Cs Qld of the year! It’s not why we do it, but it’s great to be recognised for the hard work that our P&C and community do throughout the year to support all our students.

25.01.2022 The students enjoyed a visit from Surf Life Saving Queensland as part of the Beach to Bush Program. Although we are about 300km from the beach, it is important to discuss water safety in all situations and students learnt vital beach and water safety information. Definitely some future Life Savers in the audience!

24.01.2022 Our Greenlands Trail Ride was a huge success! Thanks to everyone, including current and former students and families, who donated time in the lead up to, during and after the event. We had over 350 riders who raved about the track, organisation of the ride as well as the friendliness of all the workers. Most of all, we fundraised valuable money that goes towards to the students at our school!

24.01.2022 In what has been an unprecedented year, our Queensland teachers, school leaders and wider school support staff have all continued to show their professionalism and resilience, striving every day to do their best for Queensland students. We are extremely lucky to have such caring, dedicated and talented teachers at Greenlands State School. Thank you to all the teachers at Greenlands who do a wonderful job of ensuring the students at school get the best education possible. #ThankQldTeachers #BrightFuture

23.01.2022 Yesterday we had a visit from Marc from Deadly Australians to educate the students about the range of dangerous animals we have on the Granite Belt and surrounds. Marc discussed the features of the animals, where they live, what students should do if they see these animals as well as important first aid tips.

23.01.2022 As part of their Geography Unit in Term 4, our Prep students wrote to Mr Low and asked if they could make a special place somewhere in the school. After receiving the ok, they chose to update the garden next to the tennis court and create their 'special place'. They enlisted the help of some very talented parents, Joe from Schulte Hardwood Sawmilling and Ryan from Frontier Furniture and Timber Products to help create some beautiful bench seats for their garden. A big thank you to Joe and Ryan for donating their time and beautiful timber. The area looks fantastic now! Well done Prep students.

23.01.2022 You made it! Well done to you! School resumes for the remainder of students Monday 25th May. Below are some important protocols to ensure everyone in our community is safe. We can't wait to see all the students back through the school gates on Monday morning!

19.01.2022 A big congratulations to Jonathan, Aiden and Brooke who qualified for the finals of the Granite Belt Lecturette Competition . Jonathan's speech titled, 'The Long Walk to Freedom' informed us about Nelson Mandela and his work to end apartheid. Aidens speech 'The Final Frontier' took us on a journey through NASA's triumphs and tribulations. Brooke informed us about her hero, Joan of Arc in her speech 'The Heroine of France'. A lecturette is a 3 minute informational speech delivered on a topic of their choosing and forms part of our Oral Presentation program, which runs right throughout the school and helps to foster confident and capable communicators. Thanks to Stanthorpe Toastmasters Club for adjudicating. We wish them luck in the finals!
