25.01.2022 Our friends in the Nursery had another fun day. Enjoying the aircon on a hot day while playing with the colourful blocks and reading some of our beautiful books.

25.01.2022 Good Afternoon Families Learning to count is an important part of our everyday learning, and we naturally bring this through as we stay and play with our friends. Today we used playdough as a medium for counting. Miss Louise showed our children how to roll the playdough into balls and together we counted how many were made. The children engaged well, repeating the numbers out loud. We had fun rolling the balls around during and after. Miss Grace explored counting and colours with the abacus, supporting the counting playdough experience. This is an ongoing interest and promotes language and group participation. Well done to our Toddlers Room. Group learning is fun.

25.01.2022 Check out these great photos of the children engaging in role-play! The children washed the baby dolls, dried them and dressed them ready for play!

25.01.2022 To open our festivities we opened our 1st Birthday Celebrations with formalities to welcome our distinguished guests (Kirsten our National Operations Support Manager & Kylie our Operations Support Manager) before inviting Angus from the Kindy Room; to open our Celebration with an Acknowledgment to Country (Amazing). Thank you Hugo and George from our Tiny Tots room - for championing the Number 1 to acknowledge our 1st Birthday. Yay!

25.01.2022 We are looking to complete a team challenge that will support our community. Please comment or make suggestions on what we could do as a team and as a community. We look forward to your consideration. :)

24.01.2022 Toddlers had so much fun today writing letters to Santa and posting them in our Santa mailbox.

22.01.2022 Before we go outside we: - Put our shoes on - Put our hats on - Put our sunscreen on - Check the UV and temperature ... Miss Elisa and Mr Alberto have been encouraging the children to independently get ready to go outside. The children excitedly follow this routine before heading into outdoor environments. Heres Esteban, Evie, Thomas and Matilda showing us how its done.

21.01.2022 Hello Families, Today we celebrated CRAZY HAIR DAY. Although we werent able to source any hair chalk we got creative with hair ties, pipe cleaners, hair gel and ribbons. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting involved in this as they even helped get crazy on their educators hair. Each room then watched a education video about Cystic Fibrosis. Thanks to all our families for getting involved and helping support CF.

21.01.2022 Bubbles!! There is always so much fun to be had in the great outdoors!

20.01.2022 Construction at work The Junior-Kindy children have been hard at work creating and constructing various towers and houses. Lucky we had a firemen and police officer on site to make sure the job was getting done correctly. The children have absolutely loved implementing dress ups into their learning space as it allows them to confidently explore and engage in social and physical environments through relationships and play whilst exploring aspects of identity and role play.

20.01.2022 Over the past fortnight the Tiny Tots have been focusing on farm animals. Miss Shaye has been particularly emphasising; where they live, what they eat, what they look like along with what sounds they make. They have learnt this through songs and visualised texts. The children were given the opportunity to create various farm animals using visual guides and a range of materials and resources. Miss Jaz and Miss Diane enjoyed getting involved in the painting experiences also. Doesnt their Project wall look fantastic!

19.01.2022 Our children enjoyed exploring our mud kitchen this week. They also enjoyed an art experience using yellow paint. So much fun was had by all!

19.01.2022 Happy Friday! To all our wonderful families and friends we hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.

19.01.2022 This year Green Leaves Early Learning again showed their support behind Red Nose Day. A cause that provides much needed funds and awareness to help save little lives. The Kindy children spoke about safe sleeping and got silly for a serious cause.

17.01.2022 The children have been demonstrating autonomy and resilience as they have began to wash up their own dishes after each meal.

17.01.2022 Here at Green Leaves Ashgrove children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect. As Clark struggled to put his own shoes on, Quinn didnt hesitate to help out a friend.

16.01.2022 ~ DENTAL HYGIENE WEEK ~ Our Pre-Kindergarten friends are learning about the importance of practicing good oral hygiene and health. Each child was provided the opportunity to explore and engage with the dental tools and clean the germs off the teeth through investigating and experimenting. Miss Elisa explained to the children how, through brushing, flossing and eating healthy foods; we can keep our teeth clean and stay healthy.

16.01.2022 On Friday the 17th of July Green leaves Ashgrove participated in Pyjama Day. Pyjama Day is all about wearing your favourite PJs to raise much needed awareness and funds for children in foster care. We all cosied up in our PJs and enjoyed watching a short movie.

16.01.2022 Our Kindy children have been exploring the relationship between bugs and plants. After much discussion, they used this information to design and draw their own bugs.

15.01.2022 Our Under 2s in the Tiny Tots Room have reviewed their Acknowledgment to Country in preparation to celebrating NAIDOC week. Even though NAIDOC week has been postponed - our Lead Educator Shaye decided to implement planned indigenous program to build on their current knowledge - and to grow and develop a meaningful journey through to September - onward. We look forward to sharing more soon.

14.01.2022 During drop off this morning, two of our children approached Chef Tracy to talk about what was on the Menu for Morning Tea. Chef Tracy politely informed them that there were fresh fruit and yoghurt waiting for them upstairs. Both children spoke about apples and how crunchy and delicious they are - before following Miss Kimmi up the stairs. Did they find their morning tea? Yes they did! Just like Chef Tracy had told them.

14.01.2022 This morning we revisited our Acknowledgement of Country, which is an important part of our day. We have children transitioning into our room this week and they are settling in very well. For the second part of our farm book all the children drew pigs and piglets. Miss Sharon explained what a piglet was and what the colour pink represents for this experience. Their knowledge of colours is improving. George, Ella and Elsa explored home corner by cooking and caring for the... dolls. This shows evidence of learning through roleplay a concept that we encourage every day. Jason read some books to George, Armie and Austin, who seemed to really enjoy the bonding time as Jason is a new team member. The children have been interacting well and are involved in their learning activities set out in the room. It is so good to see how confident and comfortable our children are as they journey through their day!

14.01.2022 The staff here at Green Leaves Early Learning Ashgrove acknowledge and support Jeans for Genes Day. Jeans for Genes was established in 1994 by Childrens Medical Research Institute to fund revolutionary research that helps diagnose, understand, and find cures or treatments for conditions affecting kids, including genetic diseases, cancer, and epilepsy. 1 in 20 kids is born with a genetic disease or birth defects. You likely know and care about someone affected. Genetic diseases are one of the leading causes of death in kids under four and the main cause of ongoing hospitalisation. To fight this epidemic, we need more research. (https://www.jeansforgenes.org.au/ab/what-is-jeans-for-genes)

14.01.2022 Our Pre-Kindy Children are so comfortable with their play spaces here at Green Leaves Ashgrove that there are moments where our educators are not needed to participate in their play. Knowing when to be an observer in a childs learning journey and when you need to engage, allows our children to grow in their social skills and independence.

14.01.2022 As you know, on Monday last week we had a visit from Ocean Life Education. After the incursion - a group of our Kindy children opened up their books and recorded their favourite part of the event. It is so good to see our older children taking the time to reflect on their experiences together. A crowd favourite seemed to be the interaction with the turtle. Here we can see our Pre-Kindy Children having a very close encounter indeed! Well done children. Nothing beats hands-on experiences. Thank you Ocean Life Education. We always enjoy your visits.

12.01.2022 And finally, after the long wait, we get to share with you, our 1st Birthday Celebrations in action. With Disco music playing in the background, we danced our way around the Over 2s indoor/outdoor spaces for a time, sharing in fun experiences to celebrate our 1st year together. It was so good to see all of our children safely gathered, and wonderful to see our team come together to appreciate the journey we have had.

12.01.2022 Once the fun and games were done, it was time for Cake. We sang Happy Birthday in Spanish, Te Reo Maaori and English - to celebrate our Multicultural community. Thank you to Alberto and Diana who supported our team through this. Once Cake had been shared, it was time to go back to our rooms for a much-needed lunch break and siesta. What a fantastic way to see in our first year. Thank you Team Ashgrove for bringing this together. We look forward to working with our families in supporting our local community further in 2021. Let the journey continue. With much Love - from Green Leaves - Team Ashgrove.

11.01.2022 As the Junior-Kindy children have been focusing on team building and cooperation Miss Tilly introduced the children to Wobbly Worms. This game focuses on turn taking, patience, concentration and coordination. Each child was able to carefully remove a block without allowing it to fall. The children were all so encouraging to each other, demonstrating an understanding or fairness and collaboration. Look at the excitement and enthusiasm on Arthur and Clarks faces!

11.01.2022 After reflection Miss Elisa and Mr Alberto decided they wanted to incorporate more natural and sustainable practices into their daily routine. To help the children better understand how to respect their environment each child was given the opportunity to be a part of this process. Everyone selected their special pot (cup) and was able to glue their picture onto their cup, plant their seeds and water them. Each day the children will be able to watch their plants grow.

07.01.2022 Our Tiny Tots love spending time out in the garden playing peek-a-boo and collecting pieces of bark and leaves to give to our Educators.

07.01.2022 Today we celebrated our wonderful team of Educators. A huge shout out to all of our wonderful Green Leaves Ashgrove Team. A special thank you to our Ashgrove families. Your beautiful notes of acknowledgement were very much appreciated by all. Our gratitude tree will be available for a few more days. Please feel free to add more notes, with more photos to come. To our wonderful Ashgrove EDUCATORS.....Thank you all for your smiles, your positive energy and your commitment to providing quality care to our community. You are valued. Happy Educators Day 2020.

06.01.2022 Today as part of our program we did something very exciting......Messy Play!! All children used fine motor and gross motor skills to explore the paint. Children also used the pipe cleaners to squish the paint around. Some children chose to paint themselves on their tummy’s, hands and arms. Children were free to explore the experience for as long as they wished before getting cleaned up. This supported children’s autonomy and sense of agency by allowing them to engage for as long as they wished. When Sophia finished painting she pointed to paint saying Thank you, Thank you and smiling. This afternoon we will head outside with our Tiny Tots friends and hopefully if the weather remains warm some water play.

06.01.2022 We are always SunSmart here at Green Leaves Ashgrove. We would like to thank all our families for participating in SunSmart practises and encouraging children to do so. Through dressing your children in sleeved T-shirts, helping to apply their sunscreen and encouraging children to get hats each morning helps to successfully embed safe SunSmart behaviours into our centre community. Thanks for always remembering to SLIP, SLOP, SLAP. For more information visit this education tool below. https://www.sunsmart.com.au//res/early-childhood-resources

05.01.2022 ~SCIENCE WEEK~ This years theme for National Science Week is The Deep Blue: Innovation for the future of our oceans. In keeping with this theme, the Pre-Kindy children have been discussing how we can contribute to looking after our oceans and sea life. Miss Elisa has also implemented various science experiments including; ocean slime and fizzy ice cubes.

04.01.2022 Today our Nursery explored watercolour paints while outside. Miss Shaye set out the art easel and one by one we each got a turn creating some beautiful watercolour paintings. Usually, we would use the art trays but to change things up a little we set out the easel which put the paper more on the children’s level. It was wonderful to see all the different techniques the children were using while creating their masterpieces. Not all of our friends wanted a go at this activity today which is perfectly fine and they were found exploring the yard and enjoying themselves in different ways.

03.01.2022 Our educators have been focusing on setting up fun and exciting climbing experiences in our 2-3 yard. The climbing frames and balance beams allow the children to grow in their physical strength and gross motor skills. Our Toddler and Pre-Kindergarten children have been focusing on their risk taking, problem solving and confidence. Look at them go!

03.01.2022 Today our children are working on their fine motor skills to help in preparation for their move to our Kindy Room next year.

03.01.2022 Soft hands - Gentle hands and having empathy to care for someone other than oneself. Our Tiny Tots took the babies outside and role modelled these skills with one another. Some of our children have just become older siblings to new babies at home and the language that the children have been using in their play is just so precious. Words like "Baba" and "Mine" while patting the dolls with gentle hands. Their language and actions show us that what they are learning at home, is reflected here in their Centre environment, where they feel safe and secure to continue their learning through role-playing. Thank you to our Educators for encouraging this interest with our children.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to the Jacoby Family - winners of the Gift Basket for the - Family Photo Booth Competition - Celebrating our Centres very 1st Birthday. Yes we made it to our First Year. Thank you Tilly for presenting our winners with their prize.

The staff would like to wish a Happy Father’s Day to all our amazing dads, step dads, granddads and the 2 in 1 mums and recognise the important role they have within the family unit.

02.01.2022 Recently the children have been exploring Gardening and Composting. We planted some new veggies and started our compost off so next time we have fresh compost for our veggies to grow in. #greenleaves #ashgrove #gardening

02.01.2022 Water play is a fun way to explore, create and discover. Check out these great photos of some magical moments that happen outside each day. #greenleaveselc #childcare #ashgrove #thegreatoutdoors

01.01.2022 Check out our new yoga space in the 2-3 outdoor environment. As we have had to put a hold on all extra-curricular activities, including yoga with Miss Penny, we wanted to make sure were practicing all our poses and mindfulness as we eagerly await her return.

01.01.2022 Ahoy ye maties! Together our Kindy Kids explored the seven seas! Well, rather we explored the yard as Charlotte brought a map which would (presumably) lead Kindy to treasure. What do pirates need for their oculars that Kindy didnt have? Of course, eye patches. The children promptly drew, cut and had eye patches fastened to their faces and then adventure abound! Exploring the yard, finding treasures and of course, DIGGING for treasure in the sandpit. These were the highlights of our impromptu pirate experience today. What more could a landlubber ask for than a pirate quest for treasure and glory?

01.01.2022 Today we explored a range of creative play experiences. Some of the children did some sensory painting and drawing on our chalkboard outside. While others chose to develop their skills with colour recognition.

01.01.2022 ~SCIENCE WEEK~ This years theme for National Science Week is ‘The Deep Blue: Innovation for the future of our oceans.’ In keeping with this theme, the Pre-Kindy children have been discussing how we can contribute to looking after our oceans and sea life. Miss Elisa has also implemented various science experiments including; ocean slime and fizzy ice cubes.
