25.01.2022 Exploring loose parts creates a range of open-ended learning opportunities for the children. Freedom to arrange, re-arrange, take apart and put together as well as to sort and categorize objects. The possibilities are endless, prompting children to create their own learning.



25.01.2022 We have been sharing various dream time stories in recognition of Indigenous literacy day and using these stories as inspiration for some of our artwork. Celebrating cultural diversity strengthens childrens self-identity as well as promoting inclusive practices.

25.01.2022 National Tree Day! Today the children worked together to water our plants and trees around the center in recognition of National tree day. As they did this, they discussed how important water, sunlight and general care is for trees and plants. The children are learning to respect, care for and develop an awareness of the impact we can have on our environment.

25.01.2022 Water play is great for cooling off on a hot day! It is also beneficial for children in many other ways. A relaxing, calming experience which enhances their creativity, imagination and assists in developing basic science and math concepts!

24.01.2022 Today we celebrated International friendship day. The children participated in various activities such as sharing stories and making friendship bracelets. This is a great way for children to feel a sense of well-being and belonging. Forming friendships provides a platform for children to develop their social and emotional skills such as learning to negotiate, empathise and respect their peers.

24.01.2022 Disney dress up day! Dressing up encourages children to engage in imaginative play. There is no limit to who or what they can be.



24.01.2022 We have set up camp in the Junior Kinder room! After some discussions about what the children would like to see implemented into their program, camping was a popular option. Role playing assists with developing childrens language skills, exploring their imagination, as well as building relationships with their peers.

22.01.2022 Developing early literacy skills makes it easier for children to learn to read, makes meaning out of texts and symbols and assists in developing verbal communication.

22.01.2022 Enhancing physical skills requires a coordination of balance and hand-eye co-ordination. Providing challenging experiences such as obstacle courses encourage children to follow direction and assess risks during play.

20.01.2022 Today was National Pyjama day and we had an absolutely wonderful day at Green Leaves Cloverton. We shared stories with our friends and had enjoyed a dance as well, all in our pyjamas!

20.01.2022 Jaspreets baby shower Today we held a baby shower for our kinder teacher Jaspreet. The whole centre dressed in pink or blue depending on what their thoughts were of the gender of the baby, and the Junior Kinder and Kinder children put together some ideas of what they think Jaspreets baby will look like. We had a wonderful day and wish Jaspreet our congratulations on her baby!

18.01.2022 Upcycled play! By using materials such as cardboard boxes and pipe cleaners and turning them into a play experience, the children are able to express their creativity whilst benefiting the environment! Threading enhances hand eye coordination and assists in further developing childrens fine motor skills.

18.01.2022 Our Spring Menu starts Monday....yum!

18.01.2022 Culinary class with Chef Jasmin. In the Pre-Kinder room today, Chef Jasmin treated the children to a learning experience of making vegemite and cheese scrolls. The children assisted Chef Jasmin in spreading the vegemite and sprinkling the cheese on the pastry sheets and then Chef Jasmin helped each child cut the scrolls safely and carefully using a plastic knife. They then enjoyed them for afternoon tea....yummy!

17.01.2022 Today the children discovered a roll of bubble wrap in our recycled materials corner. Promoting team work and creativity as they worked together to paint it with bright colours, creating patterned prints which were proudly displayed for all to see!

17.01.2022 Red Nose Day! To raise awareness for Red Nose Day, the children participated in a dice disco! Rolling the dice to see what number they landed on and what dance move they would bust out! There were lots of funky chicken moves, bunny hops and freestyle moves! The children enjoyed engaging in this experience with their peers and Educators.

14.01.2022 Kinder Room Nurse Incursion Today the Kinder children enjoyed a visit from Nurse Caroline! She taught the children all about what a Nurse’s role is, and what different equipment they use to help people! The children really enjoyed trying out all the equipment and had a lot of questions for Nurse Caroline!

13.01.2022 R U OK day? Is about checking in on friends and familys wellbeing. At Green Leaves Cloverton today we encouraged children to talk, discuss and draw what makes them happy. Their drawings prompted lots of discussion with their peers and encouraged communication and empathy.

13.01.2022 Promoting correct hygiene practices is an essential part of our daily routine, now more than ever. By learning to wash their hands, the children are developing their independence as well as taking responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.

11.01.2022 Today, the children got their bodies warmed up by doing Pilates with Mary. Mary explained the name of the positions and demonstrated how to stretch. There was lots of giggles and enjoyment being had by everyone.

11.01.2022 Science week has been exciting and informative so far. The children have participated in experiences of creating volcanic lava and explosions and experimenting with absorbing water in sponges. There has been many questions, predictions and lots more experimenting to come!

11.01.2022 Exploring nature play took an exciting turn today when the Pre-Kinder children attempted painting with twigs and sticks. The educators discussed the similarities between twigs and paintbrushes, being that they are both made of wood and the children saw first hand the difference in pattern made between brushes and twigs.

10.01.2022 Creating Volcanoes. The children experimented with two ingredients Bicarb soda & vinegar and created volcanoes in the sandpit. During this experiment, the children enjoyed discussing and hypothesizing as a team! What will happen when we mix these two ingredients together? Throughout the experience, the children are learning new words, experimenting with cause and effect as well as extending on their knowledge of the environment and natural disasters.

10.01.2022 Exploring shapes and colours. Today whilst enjoying the sunshine, a group of children noticed the sun shining through the coloured blocks and onto the paper . Upon further inspection, they also noticed the size of the animals were enlarged on the paper. This provided quiet a discussion about size, height and the positioning of the sun as they attempted to trace the shapes of the animals being reflected onto the paper. It also turned into an experiment of colour mixing.

10.01.2022 International Firefighters’ Day is a time to recognise and honour all the hard work and sacrifices made by Firefighters to keep our communities safe! We celebrated this today by dressing up and participating in various experiences such as making our very own fire truck! It was such a fun day for all

10.01.2022 Project work encourages imagination, conversation and socialisation. In our Toddler room, the children have been working together to make a make an animal city using recycled materials.

08.01.2022 Today our children enjoyed a story telling and music experience told by Educator Hannah. In the Nursery the children used musical instruments and copied hand gestures to join in while Hannah sung and read stories.

08.01.2022 Our tiny tots enjoyed a culinary class with chef Glenn! Together they made some yummy banana muffins which we later enjoyed for afternoon tea. The children were extremely engaged and focused throughout, listening, and following Glenn's instructions!

08.01.2022 Mirror play assists in building children’s sense of identity as they take in their reflection and begin to experiment with different facial expressions, this leads to a curiosity of their body and movements. Mirror play also fosters children’s social, emotional and language development!

07.01.2022 Today the children in Pre-Kinder joined Miss Manpreet in an art class using charcoal. Charcoal has an unusual texture and requires some time to experiment and adjust to the texture. Our Pre-kinder children did a wonderful job of exploring and creating.

05.01.2022 Origami is the art of paper folding derived from Japan. Today the children attempted to make an origami dog. It took lots of concentration and patience but the results were well worth the effort.

05.01.2022 In the past week, the Kinder children have been focusing on measurement. Through a variety of experiences, they have learnt the terms smallest, biggest and medium size. They have found objects of different sizes and learnt to read the small numbers listed on the tape measures. This experiences extends the childrens literacy, numeracy and cognitive development.

03.01.2022 Sometimes the most fun about science is the hypothesising, predicting and investigating. Not everything goes to plan all the time and when it doesnt we experiment, explore and try some more!

03.01.2022 Our Nursery 2 children were full of smiles as they engaged in a marble painting experience! As well as allowing children to express themselves creatively, this experience enhances children’s fine motor skills and cognitive abilities as they manipulate objects and experiment with cause and effect.

02.01.2022 NAIDOC Week is all about acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land on which we play and learn. This week our children have been engaging in a variety of experiences, stories and songs relating to aboriginal culture.
