24.01.2022 A snippet for our Kinder One Daily Reflection: "Our Kinders have begun their week exploring wellness week and healthy bodies. Our Kinders had open conversations with educator Miss Ana about the ways we keep our bodies healthy and well. Our children’s responses are keep our bodies healthy by running and walking, we drink water to be healthy, we eat fruits they are healthy foods. In the afternoon, the intentional teaching experience that we planned was making our own food pyramid after researching on the interactive screen. Our Kinders had to cut out their own food pictures then glue them on their pyramid in order from healthy to unhealthy foods. This experience further developed the children’s knowledge that they already have. as the EYLF states that children transfer knowledge from one setting to another."

17.01.2022 What is writing readiness (pre-writing) skills? Pre-writing skills are the fundamental skills children need to develop before they are able to write. These skills contribute to the child’s ability to hold and use a pencil, and the ability to draw, write, copy, and colour. A major component of pre-writing skills is pre-writing shapes. These are the pencil strokes that most letters, numbers and early drawings are comprised of. They are typically mastered in sequential order, and to an age-specific level.

Here are some ways children benefit from playing with sand and the skills they can develop and practice: > Development of fine motor skills. > Hand & eye coordination watching and doing and coordinating these actions.... > Promotes creativity and imagination using wet sand to mould sand into different shapes and objects, use coloured sand to make patterns, or use a fork, small rake or pencil to draw designs in the sand. > Sensory- development of the sense of touch through feeling and manipulating objects and moulding the sand. 06.01.2022 The children in our toddler's room have been learning about road signs and road safety, the educators of toddlers created an engaging activity to represent roads, and what different road signs mean. Through this experience the children were able to actively participate, verbalise what the red and green signs mean and actively construct knowledge from one context to another. As children are competent and capable learners educators provided the children with a piece of cardboard, roads and signs and together the children sat down and engaged about different colours, numbers and letters.

01.01.2022 Pre-Kinder children have discovered that our bodies have the five senses of touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. With a focus on touch and taste today, we then talked about how we taste - using the taste buds on our tongues - and how we experience different sensations during touch - this happens through touch receptors in our skin that travels through our bodies and sends messages to our brains. Pre-Kinder children were provided with an activity where they could actively create their own facial representations.
