25.01.2022 The Junior Kinder children love music, whether we are playing music, singing or dancing to it. Music and movement is a daily part of our curriculum. Music and movement is a great way for children to develop social skills by participating in musical games such as The Hokey Pokey. Music allows children to be able to express their moods and feelings in a positive and appropriate way while also improving children’s balance, coordination and spatial awareness. Music refines children listening skills by recognizing different changes in rhythm, beat or tempo and develops language skills whilst singing builds confidence.

20.01.2022 Helping clean! Children naturally are interested in what is happening around them and are always interested in participating in whatever their parent is doing. Giving a child a broom, small vacuum or cloth and spray bottle filled with water is a great way to help children practise tidying skills, contribute to their family or personal areas, and take responsibility for their space. Helping clean or tidy an area promotes pride, self-confidence and is a great way for parents to help show children ways to pick up after themselves. In our pre, Junior and kinder rooms we often play one particular song for cleaning up (Mission Impossible theme song) however having any great music playing is a fun way to get the jobs done.
