I am very excited to be a part of the Green Leaves family. I have over 26 years’ experience in the Early Childhood sector, holding an Advance Diploma of Children’s Services. As an Assistant Director I am very passionate about educational programs and exceeding care. I believe if you give the children the tools they will succeed. Building relationships with our children and families is paramount in achieving outcomes and goals, but also for nurturing a strong sense of belonging. 20.01.2022 We are very excited to announce the appointment of our Green Leaves Kirwan Centre Director, Lee! Please join us in making her feel welcome! Get to know Lee a bit better before meeting her in person, by reading her introduction to families below... Dear families,... I am very excited to have been appointed as Centre Director at Green Leaves Early Learning Kirwan. I hold an Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services and I have been working in Early Education since 2004. I have worked across all levels of the sector from Educating on the floor to Senior Management. I am passionate about providing high-quality Education and Care with an emphasis on exceeding the current standards. My daily practice reflects this, and I consistently work on ways to improve the Early Education sector within our service. I have a strong sense of community and family involvement, so I support my team to create respectful and secure relationships with all the families and children in our care. I have three grown children and two adorable Grandsons. I have called Townsville home for the majority of my life and enjoy the relaxed feel and beautiful weather that Townsville offers. Our passionate Educators create learning opportunities that inspire enthusiasm, curiosity, autonomy, and extension of life learning. With a culture of inclusiveness, our Kirwan centre will offer families and their children a strong sense of belonging which will be achieved through meaningful reciprocal relationships. I am thrilled to be joining the Green Leaves family and am looking forward to meeting all of you soon.

18.01.2022 Worm Farm We have started our worm farm this week and the children are very excited at the new learning opportunity. Sustainability is environment education. Learning about the environment and how natural systems function. It’s everything that we need for our survival and wellbeing relating directly to our natural environment.

17.01.2022 Imagination This morning the children explored an exciting and new environment. They were so excited and shared in the play for some time. Imaginative play is vital because it allows children to revisit familiar and unfamiliar events, whilst also supporting the development of their imagination, through real and familiar, to complete fantasy. Role play gives children the opportunity to: Develop confidence and self-esteem.

Hello Families,... I am excited to be the centre administration for Green Leaves Kirwan. I have over 7 years of administration experience throughout various roles and have previously worked as a casual educator. I am originally from Canberra and moved to Townsville in 2019 with my family due to my husbands’ work. We love Townsville and have decided to settle here. I have two children myself and understand through my own experience how important early education is in a safe and secure environment. I look forward to meeting all the families.

14.01.2022 Behind the scenes of our Chefs kitchen Modern utensils, state of the art appliances and plenty of preparation space, allow for our on-site Chefs to prepare nutritional meals and snacks from freshly provided produce, for your little ones.

14.01.2022 Bugs Galore Junior Kindy has learnt how bees transfer nectar from flowers to flowers. They have explored so many areas of a bugs life and the interest continues to grow.

13.01.2022 Colours, Shapes and more.... Junior Kindy is learning colours through various activities and during this shapes are being learnt also. Recognizing the colours and identifying the colour names is an important part of a child's development. Early identification of colors helps to create the cognitive link between visual clues and words.

12.01.2022 As a futures-orientated early learning centre with a focus on providing high-quality education, we embrace and integrate technology into our curriculum. Our interactive whiteboards and iPads are used to deliver programs such as Early Years Maths, Literacy and Science to expand, enrich, and differentiate the curriculum. 11.01.2022 Tiny Tots helping themselves! Children from Tiny Tots are learning how to serve their own meals. Chef Darren has been coming into the rooms and assisting the children to do this. The children are enjoying this new routine and learning how to be more independent.

07.01.2022 Sustainability and worms Tiny tots take their lunch scraps out to the compost and sort through what the worms can have and what gets composted. They learn through investigation and media what worms eat to grow and wow have they grown !

07.01.2022 Water Wise Townsville City Council came in to talk about being water-wise with our Junior Kindy children. Junior Kindy have been learning about our water and where it comes from. They learn about how to conserve water and ways we can do this.... It's great to cement this learning with our community members to embed great water conservation practices with our children.
