21.01.2022 Maintenance workers at Perth's Fiona Stanley Hospital went on 24-hour strike outside the hospital's works depot on November 13. Workers have been locked in a protracted dispute with British multinational Serco, who is contracted to carry out maintenance work at the hospital. The maintenance workers, who are represented by the Mining and Energy and Construction divisions of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union, the Electrical Trades and the Plumbing ...and Pipes Employees Union, are being paid less and have fewer rights, conditions and job security than maintenance crews at other public and private hospitals around Western Australia. 09.01.2022 A protest was held outside the Perth MyGov offices, as part of a national day of action on November 13, to protest against the federal government's plans for the Indue Cashless Debit Card program. Under the program, 80% of a social security recipient's benefits are placed on the Indue card, restricting their ability to control their finances. Following a trial of the card in various regions since 2016, the government is seeking to make it permanent in those areas and expand... its use to the Northern Territory and Cape York.
