23.01.2022 Fire season clearing today in Cottles Bridge.

22.01.2022 Double duty for this fence completed today - horse safe and dog proof!

22.01.2022 Pasture rejuvenation with new grass seed going in today in Yarrambat.

22.01.2022 You see all that bright green in the paddocks and get excited about new grass ... but no, it’s just moss. Here’s why moss appears at this time, why it’s a problem, and what you can do about it.

21.01.2022 "What's that weed, and should I do something about it?" We've nearly finished a guide for the most common types of weeds on horse properties in Victoria, which will be released shortly. We're looking for ten eager people to give the guide a read and provide any feedback or input before we finalise it. ... If you've got some time, please comment below and we'll send you a draft PDF copy, and you can let us know if we've missed anything. Thanks! - Jamie

20.01.2022 Great cool weather for fencing in Warrandyte this week. Post and rail to set up an Equicentral system, for their horses which are on the way!

19.01.2022 Looking good! Progress shot today (bottom pic) of paddock we renovated with refreshed horse pastures back in April (top).

18.01.2022 Should you cut down your long grass now, or wait? ? We’ve been asked that a few times in the last fortnight, so here’s our latest advice and a few tips for getting your pastures and lawns ready for spring!

18.01.2022 Nice to have some inquisitive helpers today!! Taking soil samples (and giving calves a scratch) to put together a pasture renovation plan for a great property in Kangaroo Ground.

14.01.2022 A few before and after photos of a reseeding and pasture rejuvenation job in some pretty sandy soil up towards Seymour. Horses have already been in for a graze, and loved it. Planted a long term hardy horse-safe grass mix here, which will provide good cover (for weed prevention) and feed year-round, plus deep root balls to build the soil structure.

13.01.2022 Gibber-what?? This winter we’ve been trialling a naturally-occurring growth stimulant for pasture grasses. Here’s an overview of what the product is, how it’s used, and how our trial is going.

12.01.2022 Slashing and mowing season well underway!!

11.01.2022 Looking like a warm and wet spring! BOM is forecasting for September to November: - high likelihood of above average rainfall - very high likelihood of warmer than average nights and likely warmer than average days Great growing conditions - time to get those spring seeds and fertiliser out!

11.01.2022 Another battle won in the endless fight against capeweed!

11.01.2022 Yep, that’s a lot of Paterson’s Curse!

10.01.2022 Last paddock slashing before Xmas (unless anyone still needs a hand with their fire prep), beautiful day for it!!

05.01.2022 Imagine you're grass. For you, the temperature of the soil is just as important as the temperature of the air. And for spring growth, the magic number is to have soil temperatures above 12 degrees. This is when grass emerges from its slow winter period and starts growing more strongly. We've just hit that over the last week here in southern Victoria - about two weeks earlier than last year.

03.01.2022 With August here at the end of this week it’s time to start preparing our lawns and gardens for spring growth!! A light weed spray is a very inexpensive way to give your lawns lots of extra vigor, and manage weeds before they flower and drop seed.

02.01.2022 We’re always happy with our before-and-afters, but this small alpaca paddock amongst the trees in Sunbury blew us away when the owner sent through an update. Was almost bare ground when we started - a soil test, lime, fertiliser, then sowing our custom alpaca grass mix in mid-May. Now been mowed twice and cared for very well by the owners, and it’s looking wonderful! Poor alpacas still having to look over the fence at it though!
