13.01.2022 Home vs Industrial: What's the difference? There are so many ways to compost your food packaging these days where it can get quite tricky knowing which goes into what. Let's break it down into 2 main types of composting: #home and #industrial composting. The composting method you use will determine the type of materials accepted in the compost.... Home composting: Home composting handles small amounts of organic and plant based materials, monitored in a home/backyard setting. Common methods include compost bin/piles, green cones and worm farms. Only organic food waste and fibre-based packaging are able to break down in home compost conditions. Industrial composting: Industrial composting takes place in facilities that are set up to handle large amounts of organic waste. Since temperatures reach much higher in industrial facilities, this opens up the door to even more materials accepted including PLA-based packaging as well as cooked food, meats, diary and seafood. Whichever method you choose, both options can sustainably dispose your compostable food packaging and return it back into soil. . . . . #industrialcompostable #homecompostable #composting #compostable #compostablepackaging #organic #organicsrecycling #sustainablepackaging #compostablefoodpackaging #sustainablefoodpackaging #sustainable

Bamboo: One of the fastest growing grasses in the world, bamboo requires no irrigation and rarely needs replanting after harvested.... Wood: Natural resource sustainably sourced from forests (and FSC certified). Versatile, trendy and a classic eco-friendly material. Areca Palm: Naturally fallen leaves which are collected and heat pressed into tableware. Reclaimed agricultural waste as they are typically disposed by incineration. PLA: Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a biodegradable plastic derived from renewable starch resources such as corn, sugarcane and cassava. What do they all have in common? 10.01.2022 The plastic waste issue can't only be solved by the clean up alone, but also involves tackling the root of the problem single-use plastic usage. By putting a tick on plastic and the supposed 'benefits' of recycling, this allows major companies to continue using plastics in the guise of sustainability and therefore #greenwashing. The rate of plastic recycling is very low, and even when recycled properly, it can only be recycled a few times until its quality deems it for l...andfill (or more realistically, the natural environment). When reusables can't be an option, compostable packaging is the solution to ensuring that products are made from renewable resources and will return back to the Earth as nutrient-rich soil.
