25.01.2022 We are more than a bit obsessed with soil carbon and soil microbiology here. Paul Stamets, Allan Savory, Masanobu Fukuoka are all kind of heroes here. Maybe the little Green Owlets will want to add Guy Webb to that list.. Check out his story (and mission) at... https://www.grassrootsthedoc.com

23.01.2022 Hey everyone. This beautiful rain will set spring off nicely, so get your lawns top dressed, start some veggies and give everything a handful of compost. Or get someone to help you..

22.01.2022 Landscape regeneration is something we spend a lot of time thinking about. Farming, grazing and restoration of ecological function might be an obsession. If you have an issue on a rural block, just ask! Our expertise is not limited to small gardens. https://www.stockandland.com.au//renewing-a-pastoral-lan/

19.01.2022 Hey team. We are under level 2 water restrictions. What does that mean? It means: Water on only every second day on an odds and evens system. And:... Watering with sprinklers is only permitted between 7-10 am and 4-7 pm. In the meantime, leave your clippings on the lawn, wash your car on the lawn and keep mulch on your garden beds. If you need more help hit me up!!

19.01.2022 Like we always say here at Green Owl, "#beoutside".

13.01.2022 We mow a lot of lawn, but seriously, this is a good idea.

12.01.2022 Green Owl: Mowing, not modelling.

11.01.2022 Before and after. Clippings gone, no stress.

08.01.2022 Dry weather garden care: MULCH! Mulch is your best friend in keeping water requirements down. Leave your clippings on the lawn, or collect them and spread thinly on your garden beds. Grow ground covering plants or put down straw or wood chip or indeed any organic (something that was once alive, as opposed to something that has a sticker on it in the veg section of the supermarket) matter on your garden beds to keep your soil biology healthy and your water use to a minimum. Re...member: nature hates a vacuum so if you have bare soil, you have a problem. Need help? Just ask.. PM us here or call 0402253178 #beoutside

07.01.2022 HEDGING: We have been getting a lot of questions from people asking if now is the right time to trim hedges. And the answer is... (drum roll) kind of. It depends on the species and on how quickly and severely our frosts come on.... If you give a plant a hard prune and it gets a frost soon afterwards the plant can get a type of frost bite, which weakens the plant and may reduce the foliage canopy in the spring. It is really best to wait until spring for a hard prune, but if you have to trim that hedge, only take off a little bit. Water and fertilise gently and observe. If things go well, all is good. If things get frosty, you'll have another chance in spring. Remember, this is very general advice, so if you want specific advice just ask. Stay lucky. Peace.

06.01.2022 Get outside ans get some Autumn colours! #beoutside
