25.01.2022 Another big carbon emitter makes the switch to renewables. Queensland's largest power generator is moving away from coal, even though their coal plants weren't scheduled to close for decades. Will the Morrison government hasten Australia's move towards a net zero economy or continue gaslighting Australians? https://www.theguardian.com//stanwell-corporation-australi #ClimateActionNow #queensland #renewables
25.01.2022 Good energy policy for Queensland means transitioning from fossil fuels. Want to know how we stack up? Check out this real-time demand and supply graph by fuel type for each state. Make your vote count for our future this Saturday. http://reneweconomy.com.au/nem-watch/ #queenslandvotes #queenslandelection #queensland2020
25.01.2022 Help us out and write to Coles ahead of their AGM tomorrow! Ask them to make a full commitment to renewable energy! Down, down, emissions go down
24.01.2022 In a new study published in the journal Science, researchers have analyzed the chemical elements in thousands of foram samples and found that Earth is barreling toward a hothouse state not seen in 50 million years. Link: https://science.sciencemag.org/content/369/6509/1383
24.01.2022 In the US, the number of weather calamities that cost the economy more than $1b per year is now double the long-term average. So tax payers are already paying for climate change through higher taxes. Demand better climate protection laws now!... Ask your MPs to #BuildBackBetter! https://www.nytimes.com//climate-change-financial-disaster
23.01.2022 Telstra is going carbon neutral operations this year, and moving to 100% renewable energy by 2025. And as Telstra is one of the largest power users in the country, this is a significant win to start reducing Australia's CO2 emissions. Link: https://exchange.telstra.com.au/acting-on-climate-change/
22.01.2022 Coles announces they will be buying 90% of power for their Queensland operations from 2022.

19.01.2022 Well! This is some great news! Thank you Bunnings Warehouse Australia for showing leadership and making better choices for our planet Thank you also to our supporters who are calling on corporate Australia to wise up and sign up! C'mon Coles, Woolworths and Kmart Australia!
18.01.2022 What a great idea!
18.01.2022 A gas-led economic recovery is a climate action setback, especially for our neighbours in the Pacific. https://www.theguardian.com//carbon-emissions-to-soar-in-2 #stepup4thepacific #ClimateActionNow #FridaysForFuture
16.01.2022 Couldn't make it to our virtual kitchen table yesterday, but you still want to ask Coles to go with renewable power? You can email their CEO, post to their Facebook page or Tweet them here. C'mon Coles! https://www.reenergise.org/company/coles/
14.01.2022 Well, Officeworks! Nicely done! And now you're in good company with Bunnings Warehouse Australia, ALDI Australia and Telstra. But where are Woolworths and Coles?
14.01.2022 Feel Good Friday And this is the renewable future
14.01.2022 Greenland's ice sheet has possibly hit a tipping point that will set it on a path for completely disappearing. The snow that replenishes it is now less than the annual ice melt. This is one of the tipping points that scientists have been warning about. So what does this imply? That even if we stop all CO2 emissions tomorrow (magically), the Greenland ice sheet will continue to lose mass. Is this the Earth you wan to leave for your grandchildren?
13.01.2022 Queensland to make up half of Australia's job losses if climate change not addressed! Ask your MPs to #BuildBackBetter
13.01.2022 NPR and PBS Frontline spent months digging into internal industry documents and interviewing top former officials. We found that the industry sold the public on an idea it knew wouldn't work that the majority of plastic could be, and would be, recycled all while making billions of dollars selling the world new plastic. https://www.npr.org//how-big-oil-misled-the-public-into-be
13.01.2022 Celebrate Earth Day by sending a message to Scott Morrison on behalf of Pacific Nations - you need to #StepUp4ThePacific! https://act.greenpeace.org.au/pacific-letter #climateaction #ClimateActionNow #saveplanetearth #EarthDay2021 #EarthDay #bidenclimatesummit
11.01.2022 COVID-19 has taught us many salient lessons. Respect science. Focus on prevention. Unite our communities. Work together." This is just some of the insight gained in a GP's treatment room during the bushfires. These are hard lessons, but they must be learnt fast, to prevent future disasters. We must #BuildBackBetter... https://www.canberratimes.com.au//covid-19-has-already-t/
11.01.2022 ALDI Australia has just announced they're going to 100% renewable electricity in 2021!! Good Energy = Good Different. Now Coles and Woolworths can you match that commitment? Or are you same/same? #reenergise #buildbackbetter
11.01.2022 On Sunday, we're talking to some of Australia's biggest electricity users about renewable energy. One of those users is Optus. So, why are we talking to Optus? Optus are ranked #42 on the list of Australia's biggest energy consumers in 2018/19 report. They are Australia's second largest telco. Optus hasn't made a public commitment to renewable power by 2030. They have made a commitment to net zero emissions by 2050. They have indicated they would sign a power pur...chase agreement for Australian renewable power in 2020, but haven't yet. Optus has on site solar that produces 129MWh of power. Want Optus to say 'YES' to renewable power? Join us on Sunday for our Hour of Power!
11.01.2022 A research team at the University of Michigan have achieved a world-record 8% efficiency for transparent solar cells. While that is substantially lower than rooftop solar cell efficiency, it could be incorporated into building designs where rooftop panels aren't practical, such as inner city skyscrapers. Kudos to the University of Michigan team for the innovative feat! https://news.umich.edu/transparent-solar-panels-for-window/
10.01.2022 Tired of gaslighting? Join us this Sunday for an Hour of Power as we talk to some of Australia's biggest electricity consumers about making the switch to renewable power.
09.01.2022 This Sunday, we're holding an Hour of Power to talk to four companies about renewable energy. One of those companies is Coles. So why are we talking to Coles? Coles is ranked as #12 for energy use, on the 2018/2019 list of Australia's electricity users. Coles hasn't made a public commitment to renewable energy yet... Coles has committed to purchasing power from CleanCo for 90% of its Queensland operations Coles has solar on 69 of its 2500 stores Can Coles do better? We think so! Join us on Sunday if you agree!
09.01.2022 A whole year since we were singing in the rain at Milton Markets, talking about climate change in the wake of Australia's Black Summer
09.01.2022 We're excited to talk to Coles, Woolies, Vodafone and Optus this Sunday in our Hour of Power! Join us to add your voice and let companies know that we want our favourite brands to be renewable-powered and responsible climate citizens!
08.01.2022 As NSW has many old coal power stations approaching end-of-life, they are planning an aggressive ramp up of electricity storage. A robust energy storage unit can open new doors for more renewable energy integration in the electricity grid- giving more flexibility to consumers. A positive step towards #BuildBackBetter... https://reneweconomy.com.au/nsw-to-fund-four-new-big-batte/ See more
06.01.2022 Big polluting companies are now talking to each other about reducing CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions; both in their supply chains and also their own industry. So, a small win that they're beginning to talk about these things. With enough social discussion they might even move up the timetable before 2050. Link: https://www.abc.net.au//big-australian-polluters-/12493424
04.01.2022 This Sunday, we are holding an Hour of Power to talk to some of Australia's biggest electricity users. One of these users is Woolworths. So why are we talking to Woolies? Woolies is ranked #6 among Australia's biggest electricity users, according to a 2018/19 energy report Woolies hasn't made any public commitment to purchasing renewable energy... Woolies has solar installed at 126 of its 995 stores. Woolies is also trialing electric trucks. Can Woolies do more? You bet! Join us on Sunday to contact Woolworths!
03.01.2022 We had a great time at our virtual action yesterday, talking to Coles, Woolworths, Vodafone Australia and Optus about making the move to 100% renewable power! Thanks to everyone who took part. Missed it? Check out https://www.reenergise.org/
03.01.2022 This announcement breaks with the Australian government Covid advisory council on fossil fuels, and shows the Suncorp evaluating their business risk to future environmental changes as part of managing themselves. If you get stuck in 20th century thinking, it's very likely that you'll be left behind while everyone else jumps ship from fossil fuels. It's time for other insurance companies to follow suit and help the world to #BuildBackBetterment
01.01.2022 How prepared are urban areas for climate change? How will Brisbane cope? Have you made changes to your home as it has become hotter?
