24.01.2022 PRINCIPAL UPDATE 31 AUGUST 2020 The pandemic remains an unpredictable beast with numbers in NSW still fluctuating although remaining very low. We rejoice at the drop of new cases in Victoria and pray for it to continue. We have produced a graphic to help guide you as to when or whether you should get your child COVID tested. See the attached which is also on our social media sites. It is hay fever season so if in doubt about the symptoms, please ring your doctor and check to ...see if they want you to get your child tested. The Central Coast Council have now signed off on a plan to finish off the moving of services at our new school entrance which will see the final work able to be completed. We still do not expect this to be operational until next term, so we continue to ask for your patience with the increased traffic at drop off and pick up times. Year 12 have completed their Trial Exams and our plans are underway to live stream the Graduation. In a Zoom meeting with Dr Kerry Chant (NSW Chief Health Officer) on school related COVID issues, organised by the Association of Independent Schools, Dr Chant did not give any hope of the regulations prohibiting parents being at Graduations this term, being relaxed. Thanks again for your patience as we work though the issues of COVID-19 and school operations. It has been great to work with such a co-operative group of parents. 20.01.2022 WHAT OUR PARENTS SAY // Leonie Walker reflects on her family's experience of schooling at Green Point Christian College... "I believe education is not only about academic learning. It encompasses all the values and attributes a child needs to grow into a caring and positive member of the community. As a parent of four children who attended Green Point Christian College from K-12, I am thankful to the College for partnering with me to achieve these goals through shared values ...and Biblical perspectives, academic excellence, music, drama, sport and mission opportunities, friendships made and faith restored. The College experience provided an opportunity to grow in grace and knowledge and I am thankful to the staff for their teaching, nurture and provision. Our family will always consider GPCC part of our village." Discover more about how our College supports families at www.gpcc.nsw.edu.au

19.01.2022 JAPANESE SPORTS AFTERNOON (Taiiku no hi) // Primary students have been learning about the tradition of Sports Day in Japan. Sports Day (), is a national holiday in Japan held annually. It commemorates the opening of the 1964 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, and exists to promote sports and an active lifestyle. Today students competed in a variety of sporting activities that encouraged team work. The students rotated through activities with their class members on the oval. Activities included three legged race, big ball roll, skipping, tug-o-war, water relay, and sprints, just to name a few. It was certainly an afternoon of fun and games! Reynolds Sensei

We had a number of events running throughout the morning with the classes rotating every 30 minutes to the novelty events, relay races, basketball court challenges, sprints, and jumping castles. There was definitely a great atmosphere and all the infants children had a lovely time. The smiles came freely with so many fun and exciting activities to participate in. Thank you to Mrs Boyd for organising such a wonderful carnival, and a big thank you to the staff and to our amazing Year 6 helpers (House Captains and Prefects) who ran all the activities.

18.01.2022 PRINCIPAL UPDATE 7 SEPTEMBER 2020 We are well through Term 3 and there is no change to current restrictions, although some are being signalled for Term 4. I enclose with this email a document from NSW Health offering further clarification on how to respond if a child is unwell. Please note that you must provide us with a COVID test result if your child has had one, before they may return to school.... The Government communication has been stressing the fluidity of the COVID-19 situation and that we should all be ready for sudden changes. NSW continues to have things well under control, so we look forward to a slow return to normal. Just a reminder again about the parking and traffic situation. Please be patient, be prepared to take longer than usual and be especially aware of safety for your children and yourself in the carpark. If you cannot find a park in the main carpark, please do not stop in the Little Coasties area unless you have a child in Little Coasties. You may find a park somewhere in our new parking area, but unless you really need to stop and come in, keep circulating in the main carpark until your child appears. There have been no issues with COVID infections in our area on school buses, so I do recommend you put your child on a bus if at all possible. 18.01.2022 IT'S IN THE BAG // Throughout November the College participated in It’s in the Bag, an initiative from Share the Dignity organisation. This initiative provides hygiene and toiletry essentials for women, Mums and Bubs and Teens in need in our community. The response has been overwhelming with the College donating a total of 45 bags brimming with toiletries and little luxuries. Donations flooded in from individuals, families, churches, class groups, year groups and devotions groups. Thank you to the Year 7 and Year 8 girls who helped sort through the bags, and the Year 12 girls who made cards to go into each one, as well as Mrs McLarty and Mrs Molkentin for helping coordinate the appeal. May God bless these bags and the women who receive them.

17.01.2022 COAST SHELTER APPEAL // Our College community has shown enormous generosity this year despite the challenges and uncertainty being experienced by many families. Normally a focus for our Community Carols event, Coast Shelter is helping to support many of the most vulnerable in our community. To support Coast Shelter we are highlighting two options to give to their Christmas Appeal as we close out the school year. Firstly, in our Admin Reception is a wheelie bin to collect non-...perishables through until last day of term, Wednesday 9 December. Secondly, you can give online to the Coast Shelter Christmas Appeal by visiting their online giving portal - https://www.givenow.com.au//coastshelterchristmasappeal2020 There will be more information about both of these options in The Messenger newsletter, and thank you again for getting behind these vital community initiatives! 17.01.2022 TUITION FEE CALCULATOR // The most popular feature of our College website since being relaunched back in May is by far the online fee calculator. Our 2021 fee schedule will be available next month, but please utilise the calculator for an estimate based on current rates. https://www.gpcc.nsw.edu.au//colleg/tuition-fee-calculator

15.01.2022 PRINCIPAL UPDATE 25 SEPTEMBER 2020 New regulations for schools have been issued and I attach a copy of our Return to School Plan for Term 4 which contains these adjustments. Little has changed except for overnight camps being permitted, whole school sports events now allowed and orientation events for new students permitted with some restrictions. Year 12 Formals still have significant restrictions and Year 6 Graduation and events may be held, again with restrictions.... We celebrated Graduation with our Year 12 students yesterday in a live stream event for the families and it proved to work well. We wish our students all the best as they make final preparation for the HSC exams commencing on 20 October. See you in Term 4. Phillip Nash Principal https://issuu.com/gpcc09/docs/term4rtsplan

14.01.2022 THE MESSENGER WEEK 7 TERM 4 2020 // This week Principal Nash provides some reflections on how we consider our humanness and how this relates to the way we treat each other, and especially the children for whom we are responsible. Our Heads of Primary and Secondary school provide a number of important updates regarding what's coming up across each campus. Please take some time to read and be encouraged by all that is going on at GPCC this week and for the term ahead. https://gpcc.schoolzineplus.com/schoolnews?nid=47

14.01.2022 PRINCIPAL UPDATE 21 SEPTEMBER 2020 Dear Parents We have reached the final week with the highlight of the year being the Graduation of our Year 12 students on Thursday morning. Due to COVID-19 restrictions we cannot have any family members present, but will be live streaming the event for the families and our other students. This years graduands will be remembered for the unique year in which they finished their schooling it has certainly been like no other. However, in spi...te of the disruptions and the uncertainty and restrictions the pandemic has brought, our students are well prepared to complete the final step of their time at school. We wish them all the very best and are delighted that many of them have already received early entry to universities. We are expecting some possible lifting of restrictions for Term 4, but have had no word yet from the Government on those. I will communicate them as soon as they come through. Thank you for your patience as we have worked out how to keep school going during these unusual days. As Victoria returns to normal and NSW keeps its numbers so low, we continue to be confident that the end is getting closer. I wish all our students a relaxing and pleasant break. If you are planning on a family holiday, travel safely and enjoy the time away from home. We can look forward to a positive and productive Term 4. Phillip Nash Principal

14.01.2022 PRINCIPAL UPDATE 14 SEPTEMBER 2020 Dear Parents Two weeks to go before the Term break. This is often the time when students get a bit scratchy and tired, so we need to help them stay in routine and stay focused on getting to the end. The cumulating effects of COVID restrictions and the underlying anxiety about possible infections, does take its toll on us all over time.... Year 12's have two weeks left of formal schooling before the break and exam days preparation. We will be live streaming the Graduation ceremony and making it a special occasion for them. You will be aware of the disturbing content that was being distributed via social media last week. We can effectively block most of that via our network protocols, but cannot block student phones. So far we are aware of very few students who saw any of the material. As this is becoming more common, can I recommend you speak with your children about how to protect themselves when on social media from this sort of material. The eSafety Commissioners website has good material for parents on it: www.esafety.gov.au Please remember not to send your child to school if they are unwell and showing any COVID symptoms. We are required to send them home if they present at school with symptoms. You will need to get them tested and send us the result before they can return to school. Conditions in NSW remain stable but like me, you are probably longing for this whole event to come to an end. We can all only do our part and wait for the end which will come eventually. In the meantime, we must try to make life as routine and normal as possible for the children and keep their minds on positive things. Phillip Nash Principal

14.01.2022 POSSIBLE BUS DELAYS // NSW Incidents is reporting Empire Bay Drive is closed in both directions due to a truck and car crash near Bundaleer Crescent. Traffic is heavy in the area. You can use Scenic Road as an alternative. Please note this may cause delays for buses this afternoon.

14.01.2022 RUN WITH PERSEVERANCE // Our College emblem is a daily encouragement and reminder for our students of Gods word and the cross which are both central to our purpose and mission. In a year with many challenges we draw strength and take heart knowing that Jesus has gone before us and is with us always. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3

Over the weekend Nicola jumped a new personal best of 1.98 metres at the Sinner Hochsprung-Meeting in Europe. This is a great achievement as she aims to reach her goal of being the first Australian woman to clear 2 metres in high jump. Reflecting on her time at GPCC Nicola wrote, "from school athletic carni...vals to World Junior Championships, I want to express my gratitude for the unlimited support and interest you have shown in each stage of my high jump career. The daily encouragement I experienced in attending this school has motivated me not only physically but also spiritually to persevere. Thank you for your confidence, it has matured me into the athlete I am today." 06.01.2022 CENTRAL COAST BASKETBALL CHALLENGE & CSSA STATE PRIMARY BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS // Our Primary Basketball teams recently competed in the Central Coast Basketball Challenge. This is a big competition where many schools from the Central Coast play a round robin format to determine the winning school. The Senior Boys won 2 out of 3 games, with the Girls undefeated throughout the day and taking out their final match as if it was the Final. With such an impressive performance at this competition both teams were looking forward to travelling to Sydney to compete in the big one, the CSSA State Primary Basketball Championships. This is a key focus of our mission goals, one of which is to support families as the cornerstone of a flourishing society. Rather than say more about this we have permission from the Lace family to share how they have experienced this partnership with their family throughout the past thirteen years attending Green Point Christian College. Here at GPCC we also count this partnership a privilege, and one for which we are forever grateful! https://www.gpcc.nsw.edu.au/

05.01.2022 WHAT OUR PARENTS SAY // Alison & Ross Blaikie share their experience of moving to the Central Coast to begin schooling at Green Point Christian College... "Our family relocated in 2018 with great confidence and hopes for a smooth transition from a Christian school we loved on Sydneys northern beaches. We were so warmly welcomed right from our first College tour. GPCC has proven to be a haven of Christ centred learning, and a loving community where our family can thrive. As p...arents of 5 unique children we value the outstanding College facilities together with commitment of staff to teach, nurture and encourage each child according to their individual gifts, talents and challenges, equipping them for life. We believe that we are in partnership with GPCC training children in the way they should go, and we pray that when they are old they will not turn from it!" 05.01.2022 YEAR 9 PROVIDE CARE PACKS FOR YEAR 12 // During Pastoral Care this term our Year 9 devotions teachers created a discussion around the importance of having an outward rather than an inward focus. This has derived from our unpacking of the Graduate Profile during our devotion time. In short, we have sought to live with the daily questions of: How can I be more aware of the needs of others around me? and... How can I make and maintain positive relationships with my community in a meaningful and positive way? As a year group, Year 9 decided to put together a care package for Year 12 students consisting of hot chocolate, a mug, marshmallows, cookies, brownies, a pack of tissues, chips, pens, and post-it notes. Each pack had handwritten notes and verses of encouragement from a Year 9 student encouraging them in their final exams and future endeavours. This week the Year 9 students distributed these packages to Year 12 who were appreciative of the kindness and support our students have shown them. Thanks to Mrs Gaffney and everyone who supported this initiative, and especially Year 9 for their willingness to encourage and bless Year 12. https://www.gpcc.nsw.edu.au//students-provide-care-packs-f

This year at GPCC 300 of our 397 students in Primary completed the challenge, which is a 76% completion rate. Well done students and parents, this is a fantastic effort!

03.01.2022 THE IMPACT OF MISSION // At devotions this morning we were blessed as four of our Year 9 students, and Mr McGillivray and Mr Hall, each shared about their mission to the Central West earlier this year.
