25.01.2022 As the Australian Greens CoConvenor, involving the membership across the country was always a huge priority for me. That’s why I started to facilitate online member forums on topics like our Parliamentary Leadership Survey and our National Strategy. It has allowed me to not only connect with so many members who might not be able to get to events in the capital cities, but to really listen to what our membership had to say about these important topics. So when it was announced... that the Senate Meet the candidates would be held online, I was thrilled! Our members deserve an equal opportunity to scrutinise our candidates, and our candidates deserve an equal chance to show just how great they are! And they’re all great, I’m really excited to be on a panel with such talented humans. Today was everything I'd hoped for, and a huge thank you to our State CoConvenor, Ella, for facilitating! Members of the AGV, I hope you’ll join us for our future online Meet the Candidate forums.
25.01.2022 This week I provided National Council with the notification that I was taking a short leave of absence from my position as National Co-convenor of the Australian Greens. This was an incredibly difficult notice to write, as I am extremely proud to be able to serve the party in this role. However, the opportunity for me to nominate as the Victorian representative in the Federal Senate was just too important to pass up. Richard Di Natale has been an incredible force in our parli...ament, and I feel very fortunate to have worked so closely with him and his team in my role with the Australian Greens. It would an extreme honour to be able succeed him in the Senate and carry on his incredible work for our Movement. When I joined the party I had no idea that I was capable of achieving any of the things that the Green has helped me to do. At the time, I wasn’t even sure I could hand out how to vote cards! But I have been so lucky to meet wonderful mentors, join an amazingly supportive branch and be encouraged by some incredible women in this party. When I joined the Greens, I found a group of people who really were standing up for what mattered to me, and they made me feel like I really could make a difference. I could see people like Colleen Hartland standing up in Parliament making real change to Victoria. Our membership is made up of some really strong leaders who talk the talk and walk the walk in so many parts of the community. I have learnt so much from being around them. The Australian Greens Victoria has put a lot of faith in me over the last few years. And I am so grateful to be trusted in such ways. It’s not always been easy, but it has always been worth it. I have been so proud to facilitate our party through really important changes over the past 5 years. These changes have made our movement stronger and more accessible. I am inspired at every Greens event we hold by just how incredible our office bearers, staff and volunteers really are. I have watched so many new members have a similar experience to me, seeing other people take on strong roles and instead of feeling threatened or disheartened, they feel inspired and empowered. That’s the culture of our party. And so here I am now. A candidate for Preselection for the Australian Senate. A girl from the suburbs. A single Mum. A school teacher. I want to be a role model, to show other women, of all ages and from all walks of life, that you really can make a difference. I am so proud to be a member of the Australian Greens Victoria, and I would be incredible grateful for an opportunity to represent our membership and all our supporters in the Federal Senate. I hope I can count on your support in June.
24.01.2022 On this day in 1990, the World Health Organisation took homosexuality off the list of recognised mental health disorders. IDAHOBIT, or International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Intersex discrimination marks that anniversary Today is a day to stand with the LGBTIQA+ community, to celebrate our progress, and to raise awareness of the ongoing persecution, violence and discrimination we still face across the globe. ... And if you’re still keeping that part of yourself hidden, for whatever reasons, know that as someone who understands why all too well - I will stand with you (Tweaked from a friend’s post, Thank you!)
23.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Thank you for your beautiful messages or celebration over the past few days. I've loved reading them, and will definitely respond to each of you - but possibly not until this weekend. Right now, I'm heading up to the beautiful high country for a couple of days of family time. You can follow our adventures on Instagram (@_willing_me). Have a great week. W
23.01.2022 A bit of a disappointing morning at the Tri-pre-poll booth, covering Holt (Jake Tilton), La Trobe (Tom Cummings - Greens Candidate for La Trobe) and Flinders, in Cranbourne today . A number of our How To Vote cards went missing mid-last week, and turned up a number of streets away over the weekend. Not only is this an unnecessary mess, left for others to clean up, but it's a sad waste of resources that our campaigns don't really have the funds to replace. Thank you to Middi's Data and Electrical in Cranbourne who helped me clean it up this morning, and were very understanding when I visited today.
22.01.2022 This is a when, not an if, and everyone but the old parties know it!! Workers in our energy industry deserve a plan for transition! They deserve stability and preparation! The Greens have the best, and the only, plan to achieve this for workers and their families! ... #renewaustralia #greens16
22.01.2022 This time last year, I was spending time with some of my favourite adult humans in beautiful Tasmania. Today's weather is pretty scary - stay safe my southern friends!!! Thinking of our Northern friends in NSW during their clean up too!! http://mobile.abc.net.au//tasmanians-evacuated-as-/7483816
22.01.2022 In 2017, the curriculum will introduce basic coding into all schools, starting at Prep. 'Digitech' is designed to equip our students for the jobs of the future. Wouldn't it be great if those jobs were in Australia? #greens16
22.01.2022 Did you hear me on Triple J's Hack this week? Mr Hunt couldn't (wouldn't?) go on their environment special, so I rang in instead! You can hear me at the 40 minute point, asking ALPs Mark Butler why they don't have a plan to transition away from fossil fuels! #greens16... https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/hack/id78995043
20.01.2022 As we start to find a ‘new normal’ through this COVID-19 crisis, one that we know is far from over, what we do next matters. Australia has an opportunity to develop a new approach to the economy. One that is mature, well-measured and fairer for everyone in our community. We need to focus on sustainable employment, tackling climate change and ensure we support our most vulnerable people. The Green New Deal is the step forward our nation needs. I proud of the work our Party h...as done to put this together, and I've been a supporter since it's very early days. I’d love to share a little more about it with you. https://youtu.be/LDXuE2Y-LIU
19.01.2022 Go Kirsten!!! #greens16
19.01.2022 If I'm honest, I'm always a bit nervous when a voter rings me. Today, I was happy to get a call from Western Port local Margaret, who asked me the easiest question; "What will you do with Manus and Nauru if the greens win government?" Simply, shut down the camps, bring those people here. ... She was thrilled. The people of Flinders are voting on July 2nd on the issue of people seeking our help, and the horrendous policies of the old parties. This is an issue that matters to locals. And I'm proud to stand up for what matters. #greens16 http://greens.org.au/initiatives/national/close-camps
17.01.2022 In Flinders, we're ahead of the curve, with our ballot showing 50% women. Similarly, I'm very proud to stand for a party where more than 50% of our federal candidates are women. And yet, 30% female representation in candidates across the nation is a record. If you think about it, in 2016 that's a bit disturbing. #greens16
16.01.2022 A few months ago I was lucky enough to be featured in The Australian Greens magazine. I thought I'd share the link with you all, in case you missed it, and give you a bit of an insight into who I am and what I value. (That photo is me in Oman, visiting my best friend from High School. Such a beautiful part of the planet, I highly recommend!) https://greens.org.au/magazine/20-questions-willisa-hogarth
16.01.2022 Remember how to 2014 budget was so ridiculous unfair, so incredibly unpopular that eventually cost a PM and his treasurer their jobs? Yeah, Mr Shorten seems to have forgotten that. http://mobile.abc.net.au//election-labor-to-unveil/7498400... If you don't like the idea of unemployed people between the age of 18-25 having no access to support payments, then you might like to read this; http://greens.org.au/inequality (Also, all our policies are independently costed by the parliamentary budget office)
16.01.2022 When voters ring me, this is overwhelming the issue they want to talk about. Flinders cares about providing a better way for those who seek our help! We can send the government a message by voting 1 Greens! http://greens.org.au/initiatives/national/close-camps... #bringthemhere #greens16
15.01.2022 The Greens. Every MP. Every Vote. Every time. #greens16 #loveislove
15.01.2022 And it's done!!!! Thank you to our amazing Campaign team, the brilliant state office staff, the hundreds of volunteers who gave up their time to help and support me across the last few months and my beautiful family for pretty much everything!!! Xxoo W
14.01.2022 Retain the rate. And add DSP and carers to the mix. We cannot punish vulnerabluty with poverty any more! #retaintherate
12.01.2022 It's World Refugee Day! I am so grateful for those who have come from afar, and build their lives with us here. Thank you for making our community richer! #greens16
11.01.2022 #retaintherate #standingupforwhatmatters You can check out Senator Rachel Siewert’s awesome work today here: https://www.facebook.com/RachelSiewert/videos/250507629517969/
10.01.2022 Social services minister feels he has no responsibility to the welfare of an already vulnerable section of our community. You cannot trust the LNP. #greens16
04.01.2022 Well, folks, here we are!! I'm home and starting to prepare myself so an enormous day tomorrow. A huge thank you to the hundreds of volunteers who agreed to hand out How-To-Votes and set up our booths in the morning. I could not do this without you, and am honoured by all your support. If you're not 100% Green for 2016 yet, here is a fantastic summary I like to call 'What can you do anyway?' ... Happy Election!! xx W
04.01.2022 Did you know that up to 15% of voters don't make up their mind until they get into the booth? We so many people expected to vote in the week before the election, we need some help on the Pre-poll booth in COWES! Can you donate 2 hours of your time at all next week? Email me at [email protected] THANK YOU!!!
04.01.2022 What exactly is stopping us from banning this cruel practise? #banliveexports #greens16
03.01.2022 Is it not pretty weird that the Libs Higgins team couldn't find an actual family willing to be in their brochure? #greens16 #fakefamily #gojason
02.01.2022 I'm so proud to be a member of a party who has a plan dedicated to the future of our young people. Experts now fear years of debt and unemployment are ahead for the young. And it wasn't like things were easy before. Under employment, locked out of the housing market and rental instability make for a pretty tough existence. I would be a proud voice in our Senate standing up for this vital part of our community who consistently report being left out of the conversation. ... The Australian Greens have launched the Next Gen Guarantee. Please go check it out! https://greens.org.au/nextgenguarantee

02.01.2022 Good Morning! Did you know that 1500 people have already voted in Flinders? Thank you to all our volunteers who spent this week in Hastings handing out How To Vote cards! Pre-poll centres open in Rye and Dromana this week - if you'd like to help out in one of those please email me :) #greens16
01.01.2022 What did Greg Hunt MP do when he saw this environmental disaster on the REEF? He approved one of the largest COAL mines in the world which will dump CO2 at the rate of 6X the entire annual CO2 output of Amsterdam into the atmosphere!! Vote #Greens16 to stop this madness.
